En övergiven träkyrka på en liten ö
A deserted wooden church on a small island
Makarna Marie och Rudolf Klinckowström som bodde på
Stavsunds slott ca 1863-1902 lät uppföra detta kapell
på Mariaön, där de gemensamt skulle vila.
Marie, som konverterat till katolska kyrkan 1877 lät dock, i
hemlighet, inviga kapellet katolskt.
När maken fick reda på detta skaffade han sig
istället en gravplats vid Ekerö kyrka.
Marie är dock begravd på Mariaön.
Kapellet är nu öde, men varje år hålls
där, om möjligt en requiemmässa på hennes
dödsdag den 6 oktober.
Ön kan bara nås med egen båt!
Marie and Rudolf Klinckowström who lived at the castle of
Stavsund 1863-1902 built this chapel on the island of Maria, where
the were supposed to have their common final rest.
Marie, who converted to the catholic church in 1877, secretly,
inaugurated the chapel in a catholic way.
When her husband discovered this, he got himself a grave at the
church of Ekerö instead.
But Marie's grave is located on this island.
The chapel is now deserted, but still, a requiem is when possible
being held here at Marias day of death, the 6th of october.
The island is only reachable by boat!
