Regeln fuer den Zwillings-Cache:
I. Allgemeine Regeln fuer den Zwillings-Cache
I.1) Es gilt zwei Cacheboxen zu finden.
I.2) In jeder dieser Cache-Boxen korrespondiert der
Inhalt mit dem Inhalt der anderen Cache-Box.
Hierzu gelten folgende Bedingungen:
I.2.a) Die Gegenstaende erfuellen die Bedingung "Zwilling".
Das heisst, man tauscht zwei gleiche Gegenstaende.
Bspw.: Zwei Uhren gegen zwei Schluesselanhaenger.
I.2.b) Die Gegenstaende erfuellen die Bedingung, dass sie
zueinander "komplementaer" sind.
Bspw.: 250 Teile eines 500er Puzzles im einen und die restlichen Teile im anderen Cache.
I.2.c) Man darf auch zwei Zwillinge gegen zwei
komplementaere Gegenstaende tauschen - und umgekehrt.
I.2.d) Zwei Travel-Bugs duerfen immer nur gegen
zwei Travel-Bugs getauscht werden.
D.h. man darf am zweiten Cache nur das Teil entnehmen, was mit dem Teil korrespondiert, das man aus dem ersten Cache entnommen hat. Umgekehrt darf man am zweiten Cache nur etwas hineinlegen zu dem man ein Gegenstueck oder einen "Zwilling" davon im ersten Cache hinterlassen hat.
II. Erweiterte Regeln fuer diesen Zwillings-Cache
II.1) Wir bitten darum, die offiziellen Regeln einzuhalten
und keine verbotenenen Gegenstaende wie Lebensmittel,
Alkohol oder anderes illegales Material zu tauschen.
(Also kein: Salz und Pfeffer; Tequila und Zitrone; Schweinshaxe und Doomritterflaeschchen).
II.2) Stark riechende Dinge sind ebenfalls unerwuenscht.
"Rasierschaum und Rasierer",
"Duftkerze und Feuerzeug"
Da oben leben Tiere ausschliesslich davon, dass sie sich von dem wenigen Essbaren ernaehren, das sie finden koennen. Daher erhoeht dies nur unnnoetig die Gefahr, dass der Cache verschleppt wird.
II.3) Stellt Euch nicht dumm, lasst Euch was einfallen.

Die Aufgabe:
Eigentlich ganz einfach - aber aufgrund der Tatsache, dass dies ein Zwillingscache ist, haben wir uns auch eine angemessene Aufgabe ausgedacht:
Finde das Monument von Bild 1 (Kulturhistorischer Pfad am Schauinsland) oben am Parkplatz des Schauinslandgipfels.

Markiere den Punkt auf deiner Wanderkarte und ziehe einen Kreis mit
einem Radius von 982 Meter.

Finde nun die Tafel von Bild 2
(Muenstertal Giesshuebel im Ortsteil Stohren)
Hoehe 1055m ue. M.
Keine Angst, der Ortsteil Stohren ist auf jeder Karte und hat nur drei Haeuser.
Zeichne einen Kreis mit Radius 1129 Meter um diesen Punkt.

Exakt an den Schnittpunkten dieser beiden Kreise befinden sich die Caches!
Allgemeine Informationen:
Das Wichtigste zuerst:
Die Koordinaten sind nicht die Cache-Koordinaten sondern lediglich die eines geeigneten Parkplatz zum Starten.
Terrain und Difficulty sind fuer die gesamte Aktion ein wenig schwer anzugeben, da die beiden Caches in unterschiedlichem Terrain liegen:
Cache Sued (der Cache, der suedlicher liegt): Difficulty=2,5 Terrain=2,5
Cache Nord (der Cache, der noerdlich liegt): Difficulty=2,5 Terrain=3,5
Der Extra-Cache (siehe unten) fuer den Erstfinder: Difficulty=2,5 Terrain=2,5
Cache Nord ist nicht fuer kleine Kinder geeignet.
Da wohl nicht jeder mit dem Laptop oder aehnlichem loszieht, muss man den Cache u.U. in zwei Etappen machen. Einmal hinfahren und alles abchecken. Dann die Zielkoordinaten ausrechnen und die Cache-Locations aufsuchen.
Daher habe ich die Schwierigkeit mit einem halben Punkt extra aufgewertet.
Je nach Jahreszeit (ich habe das bei Eis und Schnee ausbaldowert - aber im Sommer kann auch dorniges Gestruepp ekelhaft sein), kann das Terrain eine Huerde werden. Daher habe ich hier die schwierigere Bewertung vom noerdlichen Cache verwendet.
Ihr braucht nicht zu Graben und auch sonst nichts kaputt zu machen.
Aber eine genauere Untersuchung aller verdaechtigen Locations muesst Ihr schon vornehmen.
Wer es ganz besonders schoen haben will, kann (soweit Moeglichkeit vorhanden) Fahrraeder mitnehmen und oben auf dem Schauinsland alles per Fahrrad machen.
Motorradfahrer:
Fuer Motorradfahrer ist die (klassische) Schauinslandstrecke von Freiburg ueber Horben auf den Schaui an Wochenenden sowie Feiertagen gesperrt.
Der Cache ist daher so angelegt, dass Motorradfahrer nicht die gesperrte Schauinslandstrecke benutzen muessen. Ihr koennt von Oberried ueber Hofsgrund das Zielgebiet erreichen, oder von Sueden ueber den Notschrei kommend. Besonders empfehlenswert finde ich die Strecke von Staufen durchs Muenstertal.

GPS-Empfang:
Ich habe seit letztem Sommer des oefteren die Koordinaten von diesen und anderen Plaetzen genommen. Urspruenglich sollten die Caches an anderen Orten ausgelegt werden. Aber in den Taelern um den Schaui ist der Empfang oftmals taeuschend und verheerend schlecht, auch wenn das GPSr meint es haette eine Genauigkeit von 10 Metern... :-(
Mit der gewaehlten Aufgabenstellung haetten es dann zumindest diejenigen Teams schwer gehabt, die nicht hier wohnen...
1.) Die Kreis-Mittelpunkte, die Ihr finden muesst haben in der Regel ausgezeichnete und verlaessliche Signale.
Ausserdem sind sie leicht und ohne groessere Anstrengung zu finden.
2.) Dann geht es ans Rechnen. Wenn Ihr hier nichts falsch macht sollte sich der Fehler im Bereich von zwei mal der gemessenen Genauigkeit bewegen.
D.h. wenn Ihr an beiden Positionen eine Empfangsgenauigkeit von 6 Metern habt, dann kann sich das um bis zu 12 Meter auf die beiden Zielpunkte auswirken.
3.) Wenn Ihr am Ziel eines Caches seid, muesst Ihr zur bisherigen Fehlertoleranz noch die Genauigkeit der aktuellen Signalqualitaet dazuaddieren.
(Es geht doch bei dem Spiel ums Suchen - oder?)
Im guenstigsten Fall heben sich die Fehler aber auf und Ihr solltet grundsaetzlich zunaechst mal Eurem GPS vertrauen.
Cache Sued hat meist einen guten bis sehr guten Empfang. Cache Nord kann auch mal schlechter sein als zehn Meter.
Besonderheiten:
Urspruengliche Besonderheiten: Fuer die Erstfinder locken hier zwei Besonderheiten.
In jedem Cache befindet sich zum Zeitpunkt der Aufgabenstellung ein Travel-Bug.
Der Erstfinder kann entscheiden, ob er die beiden TBs gegen zwei andere tauscht.
(Bitte nur TBs gegen TBs tauschen!)
Hat er keine zwei TBs oder moechte aus diesem Cache-Erlebnis etwas besonderes machen - so kann er auch die Sektglaeser gegen zwei andere Gegenstaende tauschen.
Im ersten Cache befindet sich (zum Zeitpunkt der Aufgabenstellung) ein Sektglas das Nord-Koordinaten eingraviert hat. Im zweiten Cache befindet sich (zum Zeitpunkt der Aufgabenstellung) ein Sektglas das Ost-Koordinaten eingraviert hat. Zusammen ergeben die Koordinaten die Position X. Eine Stelle, an der wir eine Ueberraschung fuer den Finder deponiert haben.
Bitte tauscht die Sektglaeser nur dann, wenn ihr noch die Zeit fuer eine weitere Suche aufbringen koennt. (Von Cache Nord etwa 10 Min. zu Fuss - ohne Suche)
Aktuell: Der Erstfinder tiger hat zwei Steine in die Caches gelegt. Auf jedem der beiden Steine befinden sich Koordinatenangaben. Mit diesen Koordinaten koennt Ihr Sea of Dreams finden.

Rules for the Twin-Cache:
I. General Rules for a Twin-Cache
I.1) You have to find two Cache-Boxes.
I.2) The items in each of those Cache-Boxes are
corresponding to their twins in the other box.
Whereas the term 'corresponding' should be fullfilled in one of two ways:
I.2.a) The items fullfill the condition of being "Twins".
I.e. you trade in two equal items against two equal other items (out).
E.g.: Two wristwatches against two keyrings.
I.2.b) The items fullfill the condition of being
"complementary".
E.g.: 250 pieces of a Jigsaw-Puzzle of 500 pcs. in one cache. And the rest in the other.
I.2.c) You may trade in two "twins" and trade out
two complementeray items (and vice versa)
I.2.d) You may trade out two Travel-Bugs only
if you trade in two other Travel-Bugs.
As a result at the second cache you may only "trade out" the corresponding item to your trade at Cache #1.
This rule applies for "trading in" in the same manner. You may only put something into the cache #2 that corresponds to your trade item at Cache #1.
II. Extended rules for this Twin-Cache
We kindly ask each team to respect the following rules in order to keep this a good, clean and special cache:
II.1) Do not trade in any illegal items, such as food,
alcohol, drugs or the like.
(I.e. not "salt and pepper"; "Tequila and Lemon"; "Turkey and Bitters").
II.2) do not trade in anything 'smelly'.
A couple of animals make a living up there just by finding food. We strictly recommend not trading anything that "smells". Like: "shaving cream and razor", perfumed candles and Lighter".
II.3) Don't be stupid - be inventive.

Your Task:
Well, just an easy one. But according to the peculiarness of the Twin-Cache we have some peculiar task for you.
Find the monument shown on picture 1.
Inscription reads: "Kulturhistorischer Pfad am Schauinsland".
It is located at the parking lot near the peak of the Schauinsland.

Mark this point on your map. and draw a circle of 982 Meters around this location on your map.

Now you have to find the signboard shown in picture 2.
Inscription reads: "Muenstertal Giesshuebel Hoehe 1055m ue. M."
(The place is called Giesshuebel and belongs to the county of Muenstertal. It is located 1055m (3460 ft.) above sea level.

It is located in the village of "Stohren". Do not panic. This village consists of just three houses and should be easy to find on any local map.
Draw a circle with a radius of 1129 Meter around this signboard.
Those two circles intersect at exactly two points.
THERE are the Caches!
First Things First:
The Coords given above do NOT represent the actual cache coords. But it is a recommended place to park your car and start your search.
IMHO it's quite a bit difficult to rate Terrain and Difficulty. Because they're not quite equal twins:
Cache South (the southern comfort Cache): Difficulty=2,5 Terrain=2,5
Cache North (the northern Cache): Difficulty=2,5 Terrain=3,5
The Extra-Cache for the first team: Difficulty=2,5 Terrain=2,5
Cache North may not be suitable for small children.
And because not all of you are going on a hike using laptops, you may have to do this one in two or more steps:
Go there find the signs. Check out the coords. Calculate the targets. Go for the caches.
This effort is worth another half point in difficulty-scoring.
Depending on the season (I checked this out in winter, with ice and snow but you may also be very unlucky by thorns in summer...) I used the higher value of the more difficult "Northern-Cache" as overall Terrain rating.
You don't have to dig for the stash-boxes nor destroy anything while searching. But a close examination of suspicious locations may be helpful.
If you have the possibility of taking your bicycles with you, you should do it. It's a great tour.
(Motor-)Bikers:
You should know that the classic route up the mountain (coming from Freiburg) is not accessible for bikers on weekends and holidays.
I managed to design this cache in a manner, that allows you you to do it legally in spite of this fact.
You can drive via Kirchzarten, Oberried and Hofsgrund to get there. Or if you're coming from the south you can use the regular road via Todtnau/Notschrei.
Generally for bikers I'd recommend the approach from the West. Because the road from the city of Staufen through Muenstertal is just great.
If you're having any questions on that, please don't bother contacting me.
GPS-reception:
I really did some work on that. Actually we wanted to place the caches at other locations. But being on the Schauinsland every other day, we've learned that most of those valleys have poor signal quality.
Which would have made this special task quite difficult for non residents. So we had to stay on top and find at least some places that were suitable and good hiding places as well.
1.) At the center of the twin circles you should find very good signals throughout the year.
And they are easily to be found without too much effort.
2.) Then it's your turn to calculate. If you don't make any mistake, your results should be within an average 'Delta' of: Twice the signal accuracy of your first takes.
I.e. If you find those places and measure the centers with an accuracy of 6m each. Then you'll have to estimate an additional 12m to your results.
3.) If you have arrived at the target location, you have to add your current signal quality to your estimates.
(You know: it's just a hide and seek)
But maybe you're lucky and those errors may just eliminate each other. So you should trust your GPSr in the first place.
Cache South usually has a perfect reception.
Cache North may be worse than just 10m from time to time.
Original Features:
The first two teams will have the opportunity of
a) Trading a pair of travel bugs (and trading them against two other TBs).
b) Trade out the two glasses of champagne. In this case you'll find North-Coords engraved on one of the glasses and East-Coords on the other glass. Those coords represent "Position_X" where you'll find a surprise.
Please trade these glasses only if you have enough time and valor to go for the extra cache. From "Cache North" about 10 Minutes to walk w/o searching.
Aktuell: The first cacher who found the cache tiger actually deposited a new cache at the extra site. In order to find this special extra site, he put two stones into the cache with an inscription stating the coords of the extra cache. You will find it at Sea of Dreams.
