Libensky ostrov - kde bezi cas/Liben Island - where time is passing
Mista (a lide) prichazeji a odchazeji...
Prijemne hledani!
EN: For this cache, I have intentionally uploaded no photographs and provided no precise specification of the place where it is hidden. The reason is that the Island (or, more precisely, a large peninsula) of Liben on the outskirts of Prague where the cache is hidden is so multi-faceted and ever-changing that no desciption could hold for very long.
I discovered the place, which emanated strong, Hrabalesque genius loci, approximately 15 years ago. Because the whole island is an inundated area - I don't mean only the big one in 2002, but the floodings come rather regularly - nothing permanent can be built there. Places (and people) come and go...
For instance, the picturesque bric-a-brac shop that offered antique paintings and statuettes from the times of the Austro-Hungarian Empire I found in 1999 or 2000 is no more there (symptomatically, I cannot even find the photographs of it I made).
The huge structure with a bridge crane used once for building large river boats has now shut down and the hall is used as a mammoth storehouse of furniture; the boats made there can be found, covered with rust and half sunk, in a derelict junkyard on the Northern side of the island.
The only thing that remains in place is a house with a small garden and bizarre statues, seemingly not belonging there at all. I've never found who owns the place and why the statues are exhibited in a place so weird...
I have no doubt you will find other things there, things I've never seen there, and things that will soon be gone. Hora fugit - literally, the time is running - on the Island of Liben and things are never the same there.
Enjoy your search!
