This cache is placed close to the office and the home of the Governor of Svalbard (Sysselmannen). Watch of for polar bears!
Longyearbyen has three quite separated areas. There is Nybyen, where the miners lived. Then there is downtown, where the higher officials in the "Store Norske" coalcompany lived, and where you now can find most of the shops and hotels in Longyearbyen. Finally there is the area of Skjæringen, where the state employees lived. The chief official since the Svalbard-treaty in 1920, has been the Norwegian Sysselmann. He is the supreme administrative officer, and handles and decides civil affairs and police matters.
The Sysselmann lives in a large house, also used for receptions. I.e. there's a reception every May the 17th, when Norway celebrates the anniversary of the Constitution for 1814. At this reception the Sysselmann receives high representatives of the russian society in Barentsburg and other distinguished guests.
The office of the Sysselmann is just next to his house. This is a quite new building with a (in my view) facinating arcitechture.
The cache is placed closed to both the home and office of the Sysselmann.
