Geocache Description:

Before embarking on the Baron's epic journey you should get to know the Baron's reputation. Then you should equip yourself with the necessary safety gear. Crampons, climbing rope, hard hat, ice axe, protection from wild creatures and any other items you think might be necessary

Plus this cache is on land managed by the Forestry Commission so please check out the New Forest Guidelines and stick to the rules so that we can continue to cache within the borders of the National Park.

The above co-ordinates are for the car park start of the journey. According to the Baron you must follow his instructions and directions to the letter to be able to locate the final cache. I have included extracts from the Baron's diaries to elaborate each stage.

The stages are as follows:

N50º51.893 W1º26.482 "i lost a sherpa to a huge pine cone falling from a tree on the way to the witch's cottage, it did not bode well" number of windows visible on white cottage A

N50º51.925 W1º26.551 "We fought against the alien invaders for days before managing to tie them up in strong wire" How many can you now see from this spot? B

N50º52.005 W1º26.750 "I erected this gate to retain the captured griffin. It is a shame it is so shy or it would be seen by more people." number of diagonals on the large gate C

N50º52.004 W1º26.804 "Here lies the marker post for the Transeuropean oil pipeline that i constructed single handedly in a weekend" The number next to the abbrev. dia D

N50º51.862 W1º27.112 "I defeated the wizard in his tower on this hill, then reduced the tower to just the foundations to prevent his return" the number of trunks on the silver birch E

Please be aware of all the guards who patrol this area with their dogs. Try to avoid being observed!

The last spot has lovely views and is probably the best place to stop for a picnic and to rest before going to the final location where you will find instructions as to what to do with the answers you have collected.

Once rested go to N50º51.891 W1º27.042 and you will find a container with the instructions on how to proceed. If possible could we go back to some of the more elaborate log entries as that makes this cache extra special, thanks.
