oak point beach was recently donated to the island heritage
trust by elizabeth compton. the traditional name of the beach is
gray's cove, but all i have ever heard it called is oak point
beach. it is a beautiful beach that is rarely crowded. many of the
times i have been there, i have been the only one there.
the cache is a large lock n lock.
directions:
to get to oak point, after going across the deer isle causeway,
turn left onto the reach road (.09 miles). take the reach road to
the end (3.6 miles) - it becomes oak point road at the point that
fish creek road joins on the right. another way to get there is to
take the sunshine road (across from the mill pond irving) to the
greenlaw district road (1.4 miles), which then becomes fish creek
road for 1.1 miles; turn right onto oak point road.
enjoy the beach!
