Geocache Description:

This cache is outside of the gates near NASA Ames Research Center. You do not need to go through the security checkpoint! It is recommended that you search for this cache during daylight hours.

I placed this cache while working at NASA Ames as an Education Outreach Specialist and Astronaut Trainer. On your way here, you might want to check out the nearby Exploration Center.

This cache is located in Orion Park, which is open to the public. Parking is located within a few hundred feet of the cache on R.T. Jones Road (see waypoint below). If you continue on this road past the cache, you'll see a 1/3 scale model of the space shuttle that was tested in the giant wind tunnel along with some airplane models.

You can also bike to this cache from the Stevens Creek Trail, but there are signs from the trail that say something like "Access to NASA Ames only." I've biked this route dozens of times (with and without a NASA badge), and I have never encountered any problems.

Update 7/7/07: cache has been replaced with a new container and moved to a slightly nicer location. Park at the waypoint listed below, and walk along the road inside the fence until you reach the cache.
