You'll be traveling on the new River Trail. Depending on your point of origin, this could be anywhere from a 2-3 miles roundtrip. Ratings provided by Geocache Rating System.
Park at N28* 31.613 W082* 13.127. This is the Ridge Manor Trail Head for the Withlacoochee Trail State Park. This is a very unique State Park in that it is classified as a 'linear' State Park. You will actually be hiking in the PK Smith Tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest, not in the State Park.
This Tract was recently opened to hikers and it is a beautiful walk. There are spots of open sun and tree covered trails. Be sure to carry plenty of water. You can follow the trail blazes or just strike out cross-country. If you decide to strike out cross country, be sure you have a good aerial or topo map handy.
Be aware there are other approaches. If you choose to enter from the Amelia Lane Gate, be advised that you will need to park at N28* 31.229 W082* 12.706. If you attempt to park any closer to the gate, you will likely get your vehicle towed.
