The Chandelier crystals Reunion Event Cache

The Date

The event will take place on Saturday, the 17th of September 2005 at 6:30 p.m. The date has been set this early in advance so that you will be able to prepare yourselves. ;)

The Place

The coordinates lead you to the restaurant where "Meet the puss in boots" took place. This time the other wing - without the separating wall - has been reserved for us. If necessary, we can also have the whole restaurant to ourselves.

Please bring a name tag with your nickname and/or your real name to avoid confusion.

The Goal of the Meeting...

.. is to reunite wolfgang who writes lowercase most of the time with as many of his chandelier crystals as possible.

The Story So Far

theplank is one of the oldest Austrian geocachers who is well known in the scene.

As he likes to drink a lot of good coffee, he has many empty Illy Café cans at his disposal. Using these cans as cache containers has become one of his trademarks. He is also known for having sacrificed his "disgusting kitchen crystal chandelier " (Quote theplank) for filling the caches with trade items. At least "... having sacrificed ... for filling the caches" used to be my interpretation of his actions; after an interview with him it turned out that his "illustrious" doings were / are inspired by the wish for appropriate recycling rather than by philanthropy. When the "disgusting crystal chandelier" slowly but surely became unrecognizable, his girlfriend Ms. Susanne gave him a new one as a present for "a pagan festival" (theplank).

In log entries you can often read about the so-called "Plank crystals". In time they became veritable collector's items. This inspired Gert, one of the earliest Austrian geocachers (if not the first), to create a travelbug that avenges the chandelier. Its goal is to arrive at caches before theplank does. Unfortunately the TB had gone missing in Hungary and for a long time it has been presumed lost. Only recently, pulbrich tracked it down again and brought it back to Austria. That "rescue" gave me the idea for this event cache.

• Who has the most Plank crystals whose authenticity is certified by theplank.

• Who can bring the ugliest thing that has ever been taken out of a cache.

  Somehow I will be able to find an unbiased jury. (Probably the waitress.) The prize for each competition will be a Illy Café can, still filled with coffee and hand-signed by the Master. :)

Everybody is cordially invited to participate in this event.

• Whether he/she already has a plank crystal or not!
• Whether he/she has a lot of experience or has not even really started caching yet.
• And regardless of which country he/she is living in or has been born in. On the contrary, I would be very pleased to have people from other countries attend !

Der Event findet am Samstag, den 17.9.2005 um 18:30 statt. Der Termin liegt in weiter Ferne, damit Ihr die Möglichkeit habt, Euch entsprechend darauf vorzubereiten. ;)

Der Ort

Die Koordinaten führen dich zu dem Lokal, wo schon "Meet the puss in boots" stattgefunden hat. Diesmal ist der andere Flügel - ohne Trennmauer - für uns reserviert. Falls notwendig, können wir aber auch das ganze Lokal haben.

Spezielle Ausrüstung

Bitte bring ein Namensschild mit, auf dem dein Nickname und/oder dein richtiger Name stehen. Sonst verliert man den Überblick.

Das Ziel des Treffens...

.. ist, den meist klein schreibenden wolfgang und möglichst viele seiner Lusterkristalle wieder zusammenzubringen.

Die Vorgeschichte

theplank ist ein früher österreichischer Geocacher, der in der Szene gewissen Bekanntheitsgrad genießt.

Da er gerne und viel guten Kaffee trinkt, hat er jede Menge leere Illy Café Dosen zur Verfügung. Und diese sind als Cachebehälter zum Markenzeichen seiner Caches geworden. Ebenso ist er bekannt dafür, dass er seinen "widerlichen Küchenkristallluster" (Zitat theplank) geopfert hat, um die Caches mit Tauschgegenständen zu füllen. Jedoch war "... geopfert hat, ... um die Caches ... zu füllen" meine Interpretation seines Handelns, nach Rücksprache mit theplank wurde mir jedoch klar, dass sein (un)rühmliches Treiben viel weniger auf Basis von Philanthropie als auf solcher von (fachgerechter) Entsorgung gegründet war bzw. ist. Als nun der "widerliche Kristallluster" langsam, aber sicher nicht mehr als solcher zu erkennen war, wurde dieser Umstand durch seine Freundin, Frau Susanne, anlässlich eines "heidnischen Festes" (theplank) mittels eines geschenkten Lusters behoben.

In den Logeinträgen ist immer wieder von den so genannten "Plankkristallen" zu lesen. Ja im Laufe der Zeit wurden sie zu richtigen Sammelgegenständen. Das hat Gert, wohl einen der frühesten, wenn nicht den ersten, österreichischen Geocacher, dazu bewogen, einen Travelbug in die Welt zu setzen, der den Luster rächt. Sein Ziel ist es, vor theplank bei einem Cache zu sein, um ihm den Kristall zu zeigen. Leider war dieser TB lange Zeit in Ungarn verschollen und wurde erst kürzlich von pulbrich wieder aufgespürt und nach Österreich zurück gebracht. Diese "Rettung" hat mich auf die Idee zu diesem Eventcache gebracht.

Die Wettkämpfe

• Wer kann das hübscheste Ding vorlegen ,das jemals aus einem Cache entnommen wurde.
• Wer kann das hässlichste Ding vorlegen, das jemals aus einem Cache entnommen wurde.

  Irgendwie werde ich schon eine unbefangene Jury auftreiben. (Wahrscheinlich die Kellnerin.) Als Preis gibt es jeweils eine - noch mit Kaffee gefüllte - vom Meister persönlich handsignierte Illy Café Dose. :)

Jeder ist herzlichst eingeladen, an diesem Event teilzunehmen.

• Egal ob er einen Plankkristall besitzt oder nicht!
• Egal ob er viel Erfahrung hat oder noch nicht mal wirklich angefangen hat zu cachen.
• Und egal in welchem Land er wohnt oder geboren ist. Ganz im Gegenteil, ich würde mich freuen, wenn auch Leute aus anderer Herren Länder kommen würden!

Miesto

Suradnice Vas dovedu do restauracie, kde sa konalo stretnutie „Meet the puss in boots“. Tentokrat bude pre nas rezervovane ine kridlo – bez deliacich stien. V pripade potreby mozeme mat pre seba celu restauraciu.

Specialne vybavenie

Prosim, prineste si menovky s vasimi „nickname“ alebo skutocnymi menami, aby ste predisli zmatkom.

Tak pokracuje pribeh…

theplank je jeden z najdlhsie posobiacich rakuskych geocacherov dobre znamy na scene. Kedze s oblubou pije vela dobrej kavy, mal vela prazdnych plechoviek od Illy Cafe v svojom odpade. Pouzivanie tychto plechoviek ako schranok na cache sa stalo jeho ochrannou znamkou. Taktiez je znamy obetovanim svojho „nechutneho krystaloveho kuchynskeho lustra“ (citujem theplank) na naplnanie cache predmetmi na vymenu. Pricom „obetovanie… naplnanie cache…“ je moja interpretacia jeho konania. Po rozhovore s nim vysvitlo, ze jeho manifestacne gesto bolo inspirovane skor zelanim vhodneho recyklovania nez filantropiou. Ked sa jeho „nechutny krystalovy kuchynsky luster“ staval pomaly ale isto nespoznatelnym, jeho priatelka Susanne mu darovala novy ako darcek k „pohanskemu sviatku“ (theplank).

V zaznamoch mozete casto citat o veciach zvanych „plankove krystaliky“. Casom sa stali vyznamnymi zberatelskymi predmetmi. To inspirovalo Gerta, jedneho z prvych rakuskych geocacherov (ak nie vobec prveho) vytvorit travel buga ako pomstu lustru. Jeho cielom je dorazit do cache skor ako theplank. Bohuzial TB sa stratil v Madarsku a na dlhu dobu sa povazoval za nezvestneho. Iba nedavno ho pulbrich vystopoval a vratil naspat do Rakuska. Tato zachrana ma priviedla k napadu usporiadat toto stretnutie.

Az esemény 2005. szeptember 17-én, szombaton, 18:30-kor kezdödik. Az idõpont még messze van, ugyhogy mindenki megfelelöen rákészülhet. ;)

Helyszin

A koordináták egy kocsmához vezetnek, oda ahol a "Meet the puss in boots" került korábban megrendezésre. Most egy másik szárnyában leszünk az intézménynek – válaszfalak nélkül – csak egymás között. Ha szükség lesz rá, az egész fogadót lefoglalhatjuk.

Különleges felszerelés

Kéretik kitüzõt viselni bece- vagy igazi névvel, mert egyébként nem fogjuk tudni hogy ki kicsoda.

A találkozó célja...

...a többnyire kisbetûvel irandó wofgangot és minél több csillár kristályát ujra egy fedél alatt látni.

A történet

theplank egy korai osztrák geokesser, aki a társaságban némi hírnévre tett szert.

Mivel szívesen és gyakran iszik egy jó kávét, korlátlan mennyiségû üres Illy Café dobozzal rendelkezik. Ez a dobozfajta ládáinak márkajelévé vált. Csakúgy, mint az "undorító konyhai kristály csillár" (idézet theplank-tól), amit feláldozott, hogy ládáiban megfelelõ ajándék cserealap legyen. Bár az "áldozat" lehet, hogy belemagyarázás részemrõl, mert a theplank-al való beszélgetések után világossá vált, hogy dicséretes (vagy dicstelen?) buzgalma kevésbé szolgálja a jótékonykodást mint a (szakszerû) hulladék kezelést. Ahogy lassanként az "undorító kristály csillár" egyre kevésbé hasonlíitott egykori magára, barátnõje, Susanne, egy pogány rituálé keretében egy ajándék csillárral vigasztalta magát – és állította helyre az eredeti állapotokat.

A logbejegyzésekben gyakorta olvashatunk az úgynevezett "plank-kristályok"-ról. Mára szinte mûgyüjtõi ritkasággá váltak. Ez motiválta Gert-et, az egyik - hacsak nem A - legrégebbi osztrák geokessert arra, hogy egy vándorbogarat indítson útjára, mintegy a csillár bosszújaként.  A bogár célja az volt, hogy minél többször éppen theplank elõtt érjen egy geoládába, és így újra theplank szeme elé kerüljön. Sajnos a bogár hosszabb idõre alámerült Magyarországon, mignem röviddel ezelõtt pulbrich visszahozta Ausztriába. Ez a “mentõakció” adta az ötletet ehhez az eseményládához.
