This cache is one in a series of caches representing objects in
the Solar System in a scale of 1:100,000,000. That means that 1000
km in nature are shown as 1 cm in the model. It will show you the
way of the spacecraft Deep Impact, from its launch on January 12,
2005 up to the encounter with comet Tempel 1 on July 04, 2005.
Stage 1 represents the start from Earth.
Stage 2 is reached by Deep Impact on April 20, 2005.
The final stage is at the position where the spacecraft reaches the
comet Tempel 1 on July 04, 2005.

To find stage 1 you have to build the average of the final
coordinates of the Feldberg-SolSys caches Mercury, Venus, Earth and
Mars. To the minute part of this coordinate you have to add 0.858
in the north direction and 0.039 in east direction. There you find
a birch with a sign showing you the coordinates of the next
stage.
At stage 2 you find a sign showing you two distances in west
direction (smaller one is A.B, bigger one C.D) and one distance in
east direction (E.F).
The final stage is at N50°1C.(B+C)FA E008°2B.(C+D)(C*D)E
The Sun is represented by the telecommunication tower on top of
the Feldberg.

Dieser Cache gehört zu einer Serie von weiteren Caches, die
Objekte des Sonnensystems in einem Maßstab von 1:100.000.000
darstellen sollen. Das bedeutet, dass 1000 km in der Natur als 1 cm
im Modell erscheinen. Er veranschaulicht den Weg, den die Sonde
"Deep Impact" von ihrem Start am 12.01.2005 bis zu ihrer Ankunft
beim Kometen Tempel 1 am 04.07.2005 zurücklegt.

Stage 1 repräsentiert den Start von der Erde.
Stage 2 ist die Position von Deep Impact am 20.04.2005.
Der Final Stage entspricht der Position wo Deep Impact den Kometen
Tempel 1 erreicht.
Um Stage 1 zu finden, muß man das Mittel der Finalkoordinaten
von den Feldberg-SolSys Caches Merkur, Venus, Erde und Mars bilden
und dann zu den Minutenwerten 0,858 in Nordrichtung und 0,039 in
Ostrichtung addieren.
Dort findet man an einer Birke ein Schild mit den Koordinaten des
nächsten Stages.
An dieser Position ist ein Hinweisschild mit zwei Entfernungen in
westlicher Richtung (kleinere: A,B, größere: C,D) und einer in
östlicher Richtung (E,F).
Der final Stage ist bei N50°1C.(B+C)FA E008°2B.(C+D)(C*D)E
Die Sonne wird durch den Fernmeldeturm auf dem Feldberg
dargestellt.
