Geocache Description:

Everyone in Thailand knows "Wat Pa Luangta Bua, the Tiger Temple". Visit the abbot and pat the cats!

Do NOT wear red, orange or pink stuff, since you are not allowed to enter the Tiger Canyon! (redtroll Aug 30, 2007)
Opening hours: 12.00PM to 3.15PM (al_fa Dec 29, 2012)

It all began in 1999 as a tiger orphan was brought to abbot Pra Acharn Chan. The monks now try to give tigers a home and want to change the monastery to a place where the animals can freely move. You can get lots of more information at the homepage of the Tiger Temple. There is also a map how to get there.

The best time for you to visit is at 1.00 pm. At about 1.30 pm the monks start to take the tigers to a small canyon in the park, where the visitors are allowed to pat the cats.

The area is in permanent change, we decided not to hide the cache until all ground movement has finished. Ask at the office (not ticket desk) for the cache. If the personal does not recognize the words 'cache' or 'geocache', ask for 'Mr. Jackit'. He was manager of Tiger Temple as we placed the cache, his name may still help the girls at the counter get an idea what you are asking for. Sometimes even this might fail or you do not have a chance because you are in a tourist group. You are always allowed to log a find with an uploaded picture that shows you patting a tiger, but log in the book if you can!

May 25, 2015 - A very detailed log with infos what is going on behind the scenes by novw.nl.
part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4. Thanks a lot for the detailed report, novw.nl!

July 27, 2012 - HasSeCarLa encourages to keep on asking for the cache or the "white box". They keep it at the office in a bigger white box with yellow top.

August 8, 2005 - Thanks to thsalbert for giving information about reaching the Tiger Temple from Bangkok: You can reach by bus from Bangkok's Southern Terminal, Line 81, 90 Baht, or from Northern Bus Terminal, Line 99, 130 Baht. The Journey takes about 3+ hours. (Remarks from Scaramanga: I'm not sure whether thsalbert means Tiger Temple or Kanchanaburi)

Small note on cache maintenance: The cache is maintained by the manager of the Tiger Temple, Mr. Jackit. He is a new user: "Tiger Temple". He will not be an active geocacher, too few caches are reachable for him, but he will use the watchlist to read the logs for the Tiger Temple Cache.
