JCF Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Nomex: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

A short walk, a small cache, a very big tree.

Please be sure to put the cache back exactly as you found it. The previous two caches were apparently not placed back correctly and ended up walking off with visitors... Thanks!

This cache is in the Day Use Area of Henry Cowell State Park... so be sure to check park hours before visiting.

I don't normally put micros in the forest, but this particular part of the forest gets a lot of visitors. From the main trailhead, you can take an easy 1 km walk around this beautiful loop.

There is absolutely no reason to go off trail... but the trail is a little unusual right here.

The difficulty rating is partly because of the notoriously poor GPS reception in this park, and partly because I really tried to hide this one good so it wouldn't get muggled. You will also need something you may not normally have with you in order to find it. (eg: special equipment)

If you want an estimate of the "true" difficulty of this cache, you can take off a star of difficulty for each hint used. So if you use both hints, this is more like a 3 star.

Please make sure to hide the cache exactly as you found it. If you think it is not in the right place, please let me know in an e-mail so I can check it right away. You should not be able to see any part of the cache if it is replaced properly.

The posted coordinates are from about 8 feet away from the cache and are a 200pt average with an EPE of about 15 feet.

As with most of my caches, if you still can't find it with the hints, post a DNF and e-mail me. I'll be happy to provide additional hints after you've looked at least once.

Cache is sign only and does not have a pen or pencil.

If you don't have the thing in hint #2, you can borrow one from the Visitor Center at:
N 37 02.351
W 122 03.784

You can park inside the park for a small fee, or you can park at the entrance on Hwy 9 and walk in. There are other free and pay parking possibilities, such as near Roaring Camp.
