Rio Liz nasce na freguesia das Cortes, junto à povoação de Fontes.
Aqui coabita-se desde sempre com a água, construindo-se junto ao
rio e até sobre o rio. A vegetação é abundante, como só é onde há
muita água.
O Rio Liz até chegar a Leiria é quase
exemplarmente limpo. Depois de receber os seus afluentes, em
especial a Ribeira dos Milagres, torna-se um dos rios mais
suinipoluídos da Europa.
Partindo de Leiria ou da Batalha,
dirija-se às Cortes (N39 42.013 W8 47.179). Nesta povoação, cheia
de história, reuniam-se as cortes reais. Durante a crise de
1383-85, que culminou na Batalha de Aljubarrota, D. João I foi aqui
aclamado rei.
Do
estacionamento
até à cache pode ir a pé. São pouco mais de 200 metros
junto ao rio. Leve a família e um farnel. Não se
esqueça Cash In Trash Out. Divirta-se.

Liz river springs in Cortes county, near the village of Fontes.
Here people cohabit since ever with the water, building near the
river and also over the river. The place is plenty of
vegetation. Until Leiria the river is clean and the water is
pure.
Departing from Leiria or Batalha, drive
to Cortes (N39 42.013 W8 47.179). This village is full of medieval
history (Cortes means council or parliament). King John I, became
king here after the the crisis of 1383-85.
From the parking area to the cache walk
around 200 meters (660 ft) near the river. Take the family and a
lunch to picnic. Don’t forget: Cash In Trash Out. Have
