A cache
A cache consiste numa caixa cilindríca negra O conteúdo inicial
inclui:
- Stashnote
- Logbook, lápis
- Moeda espanhola de 1991 comemorativa dos Jogos Olímpicos de
Barcelona em 1992
- Moeda portuguesa de 10 centavos datada de 1971
Se for de automóvel pode chegar muito perto da cache. Se
preferir os transportes públicos pode usar o Comboio da linha de
Cascais e sair na estação de Belém. Pode também usar o eléctrico 15
e os autocarros 27,28,29,43,48,51 (entre outros), saíndo na Praça
Afonso de Albuquerque e utilizando de seguida a ponte pedonal
próxima da cache. Em caso de dúvida pode consultar a planta da
carris, ou gerar um percurso
automático.
O local
Junto ao Tejo, foi de Belém que lançaram ferros muitas das naus
e caravelas que tornaram Portugal uma nação mundial. Em Belém
existem vários monumentos que nos relembram isso.
O padrão dos descobrimentos a Oeste da cache é dedicado a essa
façanha. Podemos subir ao seu topo para uma bela vista panorâmica.
Mais a Oeste também, temos a torre de belém que outrora protegia a
entrada do tejo de ataques inimigos. Perto do padrão, temos o
Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, cuja própria arquitectura nos relembra a
mar e o que ele sempre significou na história de Portugal. Dentro
dele estão sepultados vários famosos e é um local de visita
obrigatória se forem um turista em Lisboa. Por perto está o
planetário e o museu da marinha. Se pretende ver um espetáculo
cultural, o Centro Cultural de Belém é uma boa aposta.
Mais próximo do local da cache temos, na praça Afonso de
Albuquerque a palácio de Belém, residência oficial do Presidente da
República. Não está aberto ao público mas se vierem no terceiro
domingo de cada mês, às 11h da manhã, serão brindados com a mudança
da guarda do palácio, uma cerimónia sempre impressionante realizada
pela Guarda Nacional Republicana. Ao topo da colina,
aproximadamente acima do Palácio de Belém, avista-se o Palácio da
Ajuda, antiga residência real. Ao lado do palácio de belém está o
lindíssimo Museu dos Coches, antigo picadeiro real, com as suas
carruagens reais. Mais próximo do rio, existe um grande edifício de
ar industrial. Aí esteve localizada a primeira central eléctrica de
Lisboa e hoje alberga o Museu da Electricidade. Boas caçadas.

The cache
The cache is cylindrical black canister. Its contents
include:
- Stashnote
- Logbook, pencil
- Spanish coin dated 1991 Celebrating the Olympic Games in
Barcelona 1992
- Portuguese 10 centavos coin dated 1971
If you go by car you can get very close to the cache. But if you
prefer public transportation you can use the Cascais line train and
stop ate Belém station. Tou can also use the 15 tram, or the
27,28,29,43,48,51 buses (among otheres), exiting at Afonso de
Albuquerque square and using the pedestrian bridge near the cache.
If you have any doubts you can take a look atthe
buses' map, or generate an automatic
route.
The Location
Near the Tagus, it was from Belém that set sail many of the
ships that made Portugal a world nation. In Belém there are lots of
monuments that remind us of that.
The Padrão dos Descobrimentos to the West of the cache is
dedicated to that achievement. You can go to the observation floor
at its top and have a nice panoramic view. Further West you'll find
the lovely Belem tower which once protected the Tagus entrance from
enemy attacks. Near the Padrão you'll see the Jerónimos Monestery
with an arquitecture that reminds us of the sea and what it has
always meant in portuguese history. Inside are a lot of famous
tombs and it is a must see location if you are a turist in Lisbon.
Nearby the planetarium and the navy museum are also worthwhile. If
you want to see a cultural exhibit or show, the Centro Cultural de
Belém is a good bet.
Nearer to the cache site, in the Afonso de Albuquerque square
there's the Belem Palace, the official house of the President of
the Republic. It is not open to the public but if you come on the
third sunday of every month at 11 in the morning you will see the
changing of the guards, an always impressive ceremony performed by
the National Republican Guard. On top of the hill beyond the Belem
Palace you can just see the Ajuda Palace, former royal residence.
Alongside the Belem Palace is the beautiful Coaches Museum, with
it's royal carriages. Near the river, there is a big industrial
style building. There was located the first of Lisbon's electrical
power plants and today it houses the Electricity Museum. Happy
