En RRGC (Radargruppcentral) vid kodnamn Vesslan byggdes här i slutet av 60-talet och var en viktig del i luftbevakningen och flygvapnets stridsledning. Den var i drift till 2000 och plomberades under sensommaren 2004. Gömman ligger i närheten av det som en gång var huvudingången. Attackerar ni längs vägen passerar man även reservutgången (andra änden av tunneln från huvudingången). Mitt uppe på berget finns ytterligare en reservutgång, idag ser man den bara som ett igenfyllt hål täckt med bark. Huvudtunneln är ca 400 m, från den går ännu en tunnel åt sidan till själva huset i bergrummet som var 3 våningar högt.
Hur det fungerade :
Sverige delades upp i 3 delar: syd, mitt och nord.
En RRGC i vardera delen av Sverige var under kalla kriget alltid bemannad och bevakade Sveriges gränser.
Den så kallade incidentberedskapen, den finns givetvis kvar även idag, men tack vare den utvecklade dator- och kommunikationstekniken räcker det idag med färre anläggningar för att bevaka hela landet.
Normalt tjänstgjorde flera personer på kvällar, nätter och helger här ute i skogen mitt ute i "ingenstans" där de satt och tittade på radarskärmarna ifall den lede fi skulle komma.
På den flygflottilj som hade beredskapen fanns det minst två startberedda flygplan laddade med skarp ammunition väntades på att en av operatörena i RRGC:n beordrade ut dem mot det okända objektet som kanske var fienden på väg att invadera oss.
Som tur var behövdes dessa anläggningar aldrig nyttjas skarpt i en hotfull situation, utan de gjorde sin tjänst väl genom att se till att vi fortfarande inte har invaderats av någon annan nation.
Den plana ytan i kröken på vägen mot gömman vid asfaltsplanen hyste en barack för vakten där du som besökare fick checka in innan du gavs tillåtelse att gå vidare in i anläggningen.
Anläggningen hade kontakt med flera radarstationer, en av dem är troligen Radartarget (GC2867), som du kan ta när du ändå är i närheten, om du inte redan gjort det.

An RRGC (RadarGroupCentral) by the code name of Vesslan ("The Weasel") was built here in the end of the 60'ies and served as an important part of the air surveillance and the airforce combat control. It was in operation until the year 2000 and was sealed during the late summer 2004.The cache is hidden close to what used to be the main entrance. If you choose to attack the cache by the road, you will pass the emergency exit (opposite end of the tunnel from the main entrance). On top of the mountain there is another emergency exit , today only visible as a bark filled hole.The main tunnel is appr. 400 metres, and it has a side tunnel which leads to the 3 storey building inside the mountain.
Additional info, how it worked :
Sweden was diveded in three parts : south, middle and north.
One RRGC in every of those parts was always manned during the cold war, and watched over the borders of Sweden. The so called "Incidentberedskapen" ("incident alert") is still present today, but thanks to the evolved computer- and communications techniques, less sites are needed to watch over the country.
Normally there were several people on duty out here in the middle of nowhere, during days, evenings, nights and weekends, monitoring the radar screens for possible intruders.
On the airbase that was on duty there where at least two planes ready for immediate take off, loaded with live ammunition, waiting for the order from the RRGC staff to intercept the unknown object which just might be an enemy.
Luckily enough, these facilities has never had to be used in a hostile situation, and served well from keeping us uninvaded.
