Geocache Description:

Cache is hidden in a small Eucalyptus grove near the ancient Roman Cantra Bridge in the Beit Shaen Valley. Easy access by car - also great area to bike.

On May 13th, 2006 (see log) cache was moved to new coordinates:

Cache is hidden in grove near ancient Roman Cantra Bridge over the Harod River in the Beit Shaen Valley. The meaning of Cantra is arches in Arabic.

Wonderful site to see - unfortunately waters are polluted with Beit Shaen sewage. One of the hottest places on earth in the summer - would hike or bike only in cooler months.

Easiest approach is on road 669: Between Kibbutz Nir David and Kibbutz Messilot is a dirt road going North. It is cleary marked today as part of a new Keren Kayemet Trail along the large fish ponds. From this point it is 2 Km North to Cantra Bridge.

Nice hike or bike trail (not in the summer!) There is a lookout tower and trails over bridges along the way. There are picnic tables near the Cantra bridge. Cannot go further by car, but can continue by bike or by foot over the Cantra Bridge to the Beit Shaen National Park.
The trail goes along the Harod River.

Don't miss the Beit Shaen Roman Amphitheatre and archeological dig of the the Roman City. (visit link)

If you come by car, return to the main road and turn left to Beit Shaen. Follow signs to the National Park.Note: there is no access by car to the Cantra Bridge from Ein Harod on road 71 from Afula.
