The view at sunset from just by the cache
The Cache is now a small container. Many thanks to lnita for replacing (and previously DiverVan and Dutzig!) and also to tristan22 and Killakul for helping with maintenance.
It is located near the Ahu Tahai. A good time to visit this cache
(but not necessarily to log it due to the number of muggles) is
shortly before sunset as there can be some spectacular views of
the setting sun over the moai (stone heads). The location is on the
outskirts of Hanga Roa (the only town in Easter Island). As you will
almost definitely be staying in Hanga Roa if you stay in Easter Island,
this should be a nice easy cache to get to on foot, and it is also
possible to park within a few metres of the cache if you have a
rented vehicle. The only authentic Moai (i.e. not including reproduction
Moai) on the Island to have eyes placed into its eye sockets is visible
from the cache site (and can be seen in one of my attached photos).
The Museum of Easter Island is also a short walk away.
Depending on the time of day, there can be a few Muggles around so
please take care whilst searching for this cache as it is in a very open
location. There is a low walled area (open to public, but we won't say
what it encloses), very close to the cache, but it is NOT necessary to
go inside this walled area to find the cache.
Please ensure that cache is well covered when leaving.
A small note on cache maintenance: We have a friend
living a stones-throw away from the cache and she is able to sort
out any problems if required.
