It’s a 2 hour trip from Enterprise. My first visit was in the summer of 89 just before the fire. The road was terrible but I made it just fine. We came back just after the fire in 89 and the road was much improved. This day use area used to be a camp ground back then and I also met Ole, a fire-lookout for many years here.
The fire lookout this year is named Maitreya’s (Sounds like – “My Tray A”) and is his first summer as a lookout. The climb might poop you out since this is at 7,000 feet. Once up there you can see the Seven Devils mountains in Idaho, the Snake River below and lots of canyon country. We watched boats going up the river and rafts going down. Several mountain goats made a brief appearance just north of here. Maitreya knows where the cache is hiding if you have trouble. Have fun, it should be an easy find. Good facilities are right there. I suspect snow will have this cache closed down for much of the winter season.
