Trailway Series 3 Multi-cache
geobernd: Due to the Situation at Stage 2 the cache is being archived. Apparently someone set fire to the buildings in the area and the county decided to make the are off limits for now. When that changes I will restock. Until then I will rebuild a new Trailway 3 cache after the parking area at the dam is reopened. I'll scout the area for another fun multi course until then...

A multi with optional bushwhacking… Stage 1 is a small tupper boxes - Stage 2 a colored egg – Stage 3 is a regular ammo can.
This series of caches is placed along the Briarcliff Peekskill Trailway. A rough map can be found at (visit link) .I do not recommend continuing on the BTP after Trailway Series 2 – you will be forced to walk on route 129 for half a mile – speed limit is 55 and there are no sidewalks…The better choice: park at the Croton Gorge Country Park (N41 13.491 W73 51.503). There is a toll both to collect parking fees at the entrance but I have never seen anybody there – even on Holiday weekends – I suspect they gave up on parking fees a long time ago…For those that do not like to bushwhack: Stage 1 and 2 are within 100 feet (or less) of a foot path – Stage 3 is within 400 feet of a foot path. For the more adventurous: Bushwhacking is permitted (you will stay on county park land) for the first two stages – it’s actually a lot of fun as there is almost no overgrowth. After stage 2 I recommend taking the foot path back to the BPT and following the trail.Please take note that the section of the BPT you will travel on cache three tends to be muddy with moderate overgrowth – thorny bushes are right along side the trail – it’s probably not a good idea to wear sneakers or shorts.You can continue to Trailway Series 4 from here…
