Koordinater:

Kong Øres Grav: N 55° 48,883 E 011° 42,970
Gravhøj: N 55° 48,858 E 011° 43,006

Husk: Cache in, trash out - så medbring en affaldspose.

English description

King Øre's Grave (ECC #13)

The legend tells that King Øre was killed near Kalundborg and buried in Kongsøre Wood. According to legend he was buried with a gold chain so long that it reaches from King Øre's Grave to a hill in Stokkebjerg Wood more then two miles away. Even though many has tried digging for the gold chain, none have found it yet.

King Øre is a legendary king that perhaps lived for several thousand years ago. He has probably been a local king and perhaps it is really him being buried in King Øre's Grave. The cache is located not far from his grave. Near the grave is an old burial mound and the coordinate above should bring you to the top of the burial mound. The cache is placed at the foot of a tree in the edge of the forest to the south (approx. 180°), approx. 10 meters from the top of the burial mound. Coordinates:

King Øre's Grave: N 55° 48.883 E 011° 42.970
Burial mound: N 55° 48.858 E 011° 43.006

More information about the area can be found here: Kongsøre Skov, Odsherred. A similar printed leaflet can normally be obtained from most public libraries in Denmark as well as local turist offices.
