off braes bayou hike and bike trail. PLEASE NOTE: ACTUAL CACHE CONTAINER MAY BE MISSING! if it is, e-mail me the name of the thing the armadillo is "guarding" to log a find. if you do find the container, please sign and log as usual. new container placed 4/23/06.
the braes bayou hike and bike trail was initially developed in the 1970's. it now runs from just behind the lee leclear tennis center near gessner all the way through mcgregor park to calhoun boulevard. (info from harris county precint 3) there is also a link that takes you through the hermann park golf course right to the parking lot adjacent to the rose garden and across from miller outdoor theater. the trail is paved and mostly suitable for skaters as well. there are a number of places to park near the bayou including neighborhood streets. i've seen many bikers park at planetary cycles (GREAT bike shop!) and even the shriners building on braeswood and lots of folks park at the parking lot near the rose garden in hermann park. none of these parking spots is especially close to the caches, so plan to do a little hiking or biking.this is the first in a short series of caches along a 5 mile stretch of braes bayou bike trail as it runs between loop 610 and the rose garden. have fun biking, hiking, skating or just getting outdoors!
