Swalm Cache
Door de natuurgebieden Groenewoud, De Hout en de gemeentebossen in de gemeente Swalmen meandert het riviertje de Swalm. De route die je hier gaat lopen voert langs archeologisch interessante objecten zoals: grafheuvels, een deel van de Romeinse weg Xanten-Heerlen-Aken en landweer “De Wolfsgraaf”. Door deze attracties en het natuurschoon is het dan ook niet gek dat er meerdere wandelroutes lopen waaronder: Het Pieterpad, Maas-Swalm-Nette-pad, Natuurpad en een TRAProute (trap = Toeristisch Recreatief Archeologisch Project). Houdt er rekening mee dat de cacheroute soms over smalle paadjes loopt die zeer modderig kunnen zijn en draag brandnetelbestendige kleding. Je hebt een kompas nodig als je GPS die functie niet heeft. Je mag/hoeft niet van de paden af zelfs niet op de cache locatie. Je hoeft niet te graven. Veel plezier.
Through the nature reserves Groenewoud, De Hout and the gemeentebossen in the municipality of Swalmen meanders the river Swalm. The track that you will walk here leads along archeologically interesting objects like barrows, a part of the Roman road from Xanten-Heerlen-Aachen and landweer (defense dike) “De Wolfsgraaf”. Because of these attractions it is no wonder that several walking trails cross here including : The Pieterpath, Maas-Swalm-Nette-path, Natuurpath and a TRAProute (trap = Tourist Recreational Archaeological Project). Bear in mind that sometimes you will walk over narrow paths that can be quite muddy. Wear stinging nettle proof clothes. You’ll need a compass when your GPS doesn’t support this function. You’re not allowed / or have to leave the paths, not even on the cache location. There is no need to dig. Enjoy.
