Geocache Description:

High peak on the Idaho Montana Bitterroot Divide south of Trout Creek Montana.

This is another Bitterroot Divide cache to commerate the 100 year aniversary of the survey to determine the Montana Idaho line. From Hwy 200 a few miles east of trout Creek Montana turn south on Whitepine Creek Road #215 and drive to end of road.From parking area hike up unmarked skid road which shortly evolves into a well maintained trail and continues up and along an open ridge for about 3 miles to the old lookout site on the summit of Black Peak.This area has great views of the Bitterroots and the Cabinets to the north. You will find a metal post with a brass cap bearing the inscription MONT + IDA which occurs all along the state boundary. Bring a map and see how many peaks you can identify.
