Geocache Description:

Afternoon Ty is a multi-stage cache located at the St Fagans: National History Museum in Cardiff.

The St Fagans: National History Museum is a fantastic open-air museum dedicated to over five hundred years of Welsh history and tradition. The Museum contains more than forty carefully re-erected and preserved buildings originating from all parts of Wales. Native breeds of livestock graze in the fields around the buildings, and craftspeople demonstrate their arts. The Museum also houses indoor galleries showcasing Welsh costumes, daily life, and farming practices. There is so much to see and enjoy here that one visit simply isn't enough!

Entry to the Museum is free. There is currently a £2.50 charge for parking. A 12-month season ticket costing £12.50 is available from the Museum Reception. No charge is made for disabled badge holders or motorbikes. There is also a cycle rack adjacent to the car park for anyone wishing to cycle to the museum.

The Museum is suitable for push chairs and small children, and disabled access to most of the site is fairly easy. Note, however, that push chairs are not permitted to enter the historic buildings. All paths are paved or gravelled, although wheelchair access can be difficult in some places. Dogs are allowed on site provided they are kept on a lead. For more specific information regarding accessibility, please contact the Museum or click the link for a copy of their access guide.

The coordinates listed above are for the car park. There are thirteen virtual caches to find, and one medium-sized plastic lunchbox hidden at the end. Depending how long you linger at each stop, and how much time you might spend enjoying a spot of tea or viewing the galleries, the cache could be completed in an afternoon. I suggest allowing at least three hours.

Please note that, on occasion, some exhibits may be temporarily closed. If you have trouble finding the answers to the clues, I encourage you to consult the friendly and helpful museum staff. Otherwise, send me an email, and I'll sort you out.

Permission to place this cache has been kindly granted by the St Fagans National History Museum.

When you find yourself at the final cache location, enter and ask a member of staff: "Gaf i'r bocs celcio, os gwelwch yn dda?" Don't worry: they're perfectly friendly, and the Museum will be expecting you! As staff are in transition over the summer, in case of uncertainty you should ask staff to check the information box on this house.
