This is a web cam through the Jefferson County Clerk's Office - UPDATE 5/26/2023 - Clerk's Office has moved to the second floor of the building right around the corner. First Trust Center, 200 S. Fifth Street, Suite 228 South.
Point of Interest - This webcam was developed before we had phones with internet connections which is why the description mentions calling a friend to get your picture. This Webcam, one of the few remaining will celebrate its 19th Birthday in July 2023 and was amazingly placed exactly ONE year before the birth of our son, to the day!!
Here in Jefferson County, our Clerk's office is kind enough to provide, as a service to the citizens, web cams in each of their offices so that people can check to see how busy they are before leaving home to renew their license or registration. Check out their web site at:

UPDATE!!!!
There has been some intermittent issues with the webcam not updating or appearing not to update. Before you give up logging, be sure to refresh your page a number of times over a 5 minute period to see there new webcam picture as it is taken. Alternatively you can go out and back into the webpage and have the same effect.
The specific office for this web cam is the downtown location at First Trust Center, 200 S. Fifth Street, Suite 228 South on 5th right around the corner from the original coordinates. On the web site itself, the Downtown Office is pictured at the top of the page. The site says that the web cams update every 5 minutes, but I have found that they update on a little more random timeframe. Which of course means to may be sitting for a while.
As it is with all web cams, go to the Downtown Branch in the First Trust Center Building, call an unsuspecting friend, direct them to the web address and ask that they save your picture WHEN it finally shows you sitting on any bench with your GPS placed discretely around you. If it is after hours you can generally still be seen in the doorway by the webcam so aim for that picture for logging purposes.

Remember to SMILE, just like you did for that wonderful license picture.

UPDATE!!! - Apparently, the office is closed periodically at the ends of months for inventory purposes so if you're aiming to go around the 28th,29th,30th, or 31st, it may behoove you to call and double check the hours. (Thanks to Tenebrus for the info) There used to be some issues with the cameras updating on a truly regular basis, but that appears to have improved. Still, expect some delay.
This Cache can ONLY be completed at the Downtown Branch. In order to use other branches, there would have to be a Webcam cache similar to this one for each branch. Those so inclined are welcome to add to Louisville's Webcam caches, thus far numbered at one. All Hail Team Sing!!
