Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated to the future of our wildlife critters especially the species featured in the management of this area. Hopefully you will see some during your quest. Just remember they are there and see you even though you don't see them, hence the name of the cache.

The coordinates will take you to a sign in the woods that describes what species the area around it is managed for. The cutting you will see is management for the specie populations which the sign highlites. The young chicks of these species need thick, closely spaced trees to protect them from preying hawks. The hawks can not fly through the thick saplings and thus the chicks are protected as long as they stay in the thick cover. Then when the aspen trees get older, their catkins provide food for the adults. The life cycle of these species is very closely tied to the aspen tree. The site of the final cache is not involved in the cutting. There are two species involved but you will need to determine which is the main species (hint, its name is made up of two words) and then using an alpha - numeric code of A=1 and Z=26 convert the name into numbers inorder to find the second stage which is a short distance away. Take the first word of the specie name and convert it to numbers, then add up all the numbers and divide by 10. Add this answer to the sign's North minutes and seconds coordinates to get the North coordinates of the cache. To get the West coordinates, convert the second word of the specie name to numbers, add them up and multiply this answer by 2, then add 12. Substract this answer from the West coordinates to get the West coordinates of the cache. (Example: if the specie name is black squirrel. B=2, L=12, A=1, C=3, K=11. Total 29. Use 29 to figure the north coordinates by adding your answer to the 08.120 minute and seconds location for the sign. Don't use the decimal just add as if each number is a whole number. Then convert Squirrel to numbers and find the west coordnates.) The cache is a 4 x 4" plastic can and buried under leaves and sticks.
