Geocache Description:

This cache is purposely more genteel than others we have set. So if you can manage a mile, and a couple of stiles, then what are you waiting for ?

There are three “stages” to this cache, two “clues” en route, and then the actual cache. It is a circular route of about a mile, there is no need to leave a footpath, or backtrack. When you have found the cache, just continue in the same direction to get back to the parking location.

As this route is not frequently visited, there is every chance that on the way around, you may see deer, rabbits, foxes, pheasants etc.

There are a couple of triangular wooden structures across the path, these are to discourage vehicles, not walkers, just go over or around them.

Part of the route meets the “Monarch's Way” which is a 610 mile long footpath which was the route of Charles II “doing a bunk” after losing the Battle of Worcester in 1651, hotly pursued by Oliver Cromwell’s pals.

Suggested parking for 2 or 3 cars is at N50º59.249 W001º15.646. Please park as far over, close to the woods as possible, as tractors sometimes lurch along the gravel track pulling huge agricultural thingies.

We suggest that when you start, rather than walk along the gravel track, you immediately slip through into the field alongside, it has a footpath, and is a lot more scenic. Then just head for the first location.

The two “clues” are in view of anyone passing by, but are not in an obvious form??? There are no containers or micro-caches to find. Try looking around a bit, before you resort to decoding the hints. (The GPS “fix” for location 2 is intentionally a bit “vague”, So as to not make it too easy !!)

Our intention is to give you a nice healthy walk, rather than be cryptic with the clues.

The final cache is a medium size ammo box.

Why is it called “A Stake in the Grass”?? Well, you will just have to find out ! Enjoy !
