"Steep hillsides, narrow ridge tops and floodplains with a
combination of woods, brush and grasslands. Fishing in small pond.
Site of annual Christmas Bird Count by Frankfort Bird Club and
Frankfort Audubon Society. (502) 535-6335. Owned by Ky. Dept. Fish
and Wildlife Resources."
The cache is located approximately 0.6 mi. from the parking
area, but it's a long and steady incline most of the way there. The
cache itself is located about 20' from the trail, so please do not
try the most direct approach, since that may require crossing over
into the neighboring private property. You are looking for a 50 cal
ammo container.
The original cache contents are: two Far Side coffee mugs, two
carribiners, two bars of soap, a hand-woven South American fiber
wash cloth, a package of tissues, a container of yellow playdough,
a container of Body Shop hemp lip balm, a stone pendant, a pair of
ear rings, a single hoop ear ring, a US/Germany flag pin, a rainbow
napkin ring, a Chinese finger puzzle, two Adult Swim (Cartoon
Network) stickers, two ready-made micro cache containers, and the
WCWT:C travel bug. There's still room for more stuff, too.
The entire trail to the cache is open for horseback riders, but
this WMA is not as frequented as others, so no need to worry about
stepping in horse droppings. It's very peaceful out there - lots of
wildlife to see if you are attentive.
Please read the Guidelines to Wildlife Management Areas in Kentucky
before attempting this cache. Also note that this WMA is closed
during deer
quota hunts in September.
There is a good bit of cover this time of year that may have
prevented me from getting an accurate reading for the cache
location. Please let me know if you have better coordinates and I
will make adjustments accordingly.
5/27/04: I have changed the coordinates to the ones
suggested by pwyll. I knew mine were likely to be off, so I
appreciate the information.
8/7/04: I went with virgo91967 to watch him hunt for this
today, and to check the coordinates with a different GPSr. I used
Paddy Yenar's Magellan SporTrak Pro, and averaged that with the
coordinates from pwyll. I think they're more accurate now.
Be sure to check out the other Kleber cache:
