Birds's Marsh Woodland Walk is located in a wooded area just to the North of Chippenham, Wiltshire. It is a market town with a historic presence traceable back to 600 AD when the Saxons called it Cyppa'shamm (River meadows of Cippe). In the 9th century Cippanham, then in the kingdom of Wessex was the seat of King Alfred's hunting lodge.
The trail to the cache is uneven and very wet and muddy after rain.
There are a number of public footpaths into the forest, but the recommended route allows for parking at OS ST920760
A map of the general area is available here
As you approach where the footpath splits, the right hand (westerly) route is nearer the cache. There are many trails through the woods, and the challenge is finding the right one to take you to the cache, the difficulty is increased due to the tree cover which will hinder your search tools!
The cache container is a black plastic BDH cylinder and contains the usual items of interest to juniors, and adults alike.
