Ode to Geobear
(with apologies to John Keats)

A misty morn some moons agone,
a prank I did attempt in jest,
for April cometh a fortnight hence,
the joke I made would be the best.

As quick as wind through the trees
from cache to cache I scurried,
toys with metal markers I gathered,
as time was short, I hurried.

I took them far across the land
to a tropical and sunny place,
A hotel was there to welcome them
and Geobear's smiling face.

I returned with others headed north
to help them to their destinations.
My return was met and rightly so
with anger and frustration.

Their wrath was hard, and ruth
held sway over clear cognition,
only one it seemed, had even dreamed
of confirming my contrition.

"Hold" I cried "Twas just a jest,
I meant no malice or harm".
Although left the travelingbugs I did,
my reception was not warm.

But whom to call to plead my case,
in dilemma I did struggle
To halt the branding "TB thief!",
or even worse "Muggle!"

I learned all this from the metal bird
who told me of my plight.
I wrote to those I offended
and to Geobear that night.

It seemed due to my jovial plot,
I had now not a prayer,
but the token left, was well recieved
by the feminine of Slayer.

She spoke of hurried judgement
and decisions made in haste
She wished me well, but others still,
felt I should be disgraced.

A friendly font came on the screen
and told all how it went,
about the bugs I left with her
and the others that she sent.

Twas Geobear! she showed the others
that had been concerned,
that a joke it was, ill conceived,
yet a lesson had been learned.

I had not tried to rob another
of this past-time's pleasure.
But that I'd done, and so for them
I'll hide another treasure.

Another place I did create
where travel bugs can hide,
Or folks can trade for what they find,
or sign the log inside.

So cachers all, young and old
and those wronged by Rixart,
in the spirit of the game,
are invited to take part.

In the woods, along a path,
down by the water table,
hides a cache with things to take or leave,
if find it you are able.

The sparrow I owed a gratitude
but he wished it not for him alone,
"send it forth to another" he said
"a random kindness of your own".

So this lyric I write for Tin,
for another, the cache placed there.
So all can see my payment to the debt
that I Ode to Geobear.
:)

Additional verse by cache finders:

Geomuse

My first attempt was but quite in vain
So was forced to visit yet once again,
To discover the masqueraded prize
Which hid before my very eyes.

The second visit was much the same
Due to a muggler, who remains unnamed.
Lingering too long beside the brush
To photograph a little thrush.

The third attempt was quite the charm
To complete the riddle, yet do no harm.
The travel bug is on it's way
To visit a library, perhaps today.
