A pleasant walk up a fairly steep path. Great views over Settle and Giggleswick from the summit. There are no safety railings at the top and it is a sheer drop to the bottom! Take care with young children. GPS co-ordinates can be deceptive! You do not need to scramble near to, or over the edge!
Nestling under Castleberg Rock, Settle the small market town in the limestone dales since 1249 is a good centre for walkers with miles of countryside to explore and limestone scenery to enjoy. Buildings of note include the Shambles, Town Hall and the Folly. The town provides the starting point for some very interesting walks including 3 caves in close proximity. An excellent view of the town and surrounding area can seen from Castleberg Rock which towers above the town.The cache can be found on Castleberg Rock. To get there walk up out of the market place, past the Co-op and up Constitution Hill to grid ref SD 82125 64224. Go through some large wooden gates on your right hand side and follow the ‘Tott Lord’ trail to the summit. I can recommend afternoon tea and cakes in 'Ye Olde Naked Man' afterwards! Note - This is a local beauty spot which is being spoilt by mindless people discarding rubbish. I am in the process of taking up the issue of bins with Settle Town Council. However, you would do me a huge, huge favour if you practiced cache in trash out on this spot -please take a plastic bag with you. Thanks
