Geocache Description:

This LOG ONLY cache was placed to celebrate the Fresno Area Geo-Tag Cache's 1000th mile. Please bring a pen and DO NOT DISTURB THE VEGETATION!

Cities in California usually have a trademark symbol that captures their self-image, as urban sprawl links cities together and blurs their boundaries.

Pismo Beach has its clams, Sacramento has its capitol buildings, and Clovis has its...um...well...rocks.

From the Stonehenge-like slabs at the Highway 168 interchages to the monument at their visitor center, Clovis has invested a disproportionate amount of their limited resources in moving large rocks to strategic locations all over the city. Even Scary-Cookie's elementary school mascot was a Miner! And this rock mania isn't confined to the public sector. Local residents spend thousands of dollars and employ crane companies full time to place large boulders in their yards.

As a non-native in the San Joaquin Valley, I confess that this rock obsession mystifies me. If you have any insight to offer, please include it in your webpage log.
