Inter-state driving is usually the fastest route between point A and point B. Most of the time we are in somewhat of a “hurry” to get from A to B even if on vacations. Not only are we driving our vehicles but we are driving ourselves beyond the “fun and enjoyment” of it all. This cache is, of course, not point B, but hopefully a waypoint to slow us down, pause, relax, refresh, nab a cache, perhaps pick up a travel bug, or drop off one and continue our journey.
This is NOT a multi-cache but a multi-purpose cache with several stages.
Stage 1: Pull off Inter-State I 40 West
Stage 2: Pick any parking place, get out of your vehicle, stretch and take a deep breath and only then turn ON your GPSr
Stage 3: Zero in on the cache, log your visit and pick a card of your choice. The cards are a little memento of the city you have just visited or have circum-navigated.Winston-Salem is home of Old Salem, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina School of the Arts, Salem College, and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center just to name a few.
Stage 4: Be discreet and re-hide the cache carefully.
Enjoy your visit at this rest stop. It has wonderful picnic facilities (covered and uncovered), clean restroom and lots of vending machines. One of the main features are the walks so take a hike. Please limit your card taking to 1-2 per person and, if you choose, leave whatever preferably a travel bug.
Please write a note in your log if the card count is below 10 so we can replenish the supply. The cards are ready to mail. This site is located just beyond Exit 178 going west on I-40.
