There are several caches between Seattle's downtown ferry terminal and West Seattle. Before you leave home, check for caches in Zip Codes 98121, 98101, 98104, 98134, 98106, 98126, 98116 and 98136 areas.

AND NOW, FOR SOMETHING
COMPLETELY DIFFERENT !

  I. What Your Computer Needs:
To use this Live WebCam, you must have a program, such as "Virtual Machine", installed on your computer. If you don't have it, then go onto the internet and do a GOOGLE search for it. Windows 95 was apparently not equipped with this software and it has to be added, but Windows 98 and later versions probably already have it. In any case, once the software is functioning properly, continue to the next step.

NOTE:   SUN Systems seems to offer a FREE one that is more stable and trustworthy than a previous version by another well known company!

II. How To Use The WebCam:
Click on the above Image/Link and go to the High Point website. Once connected, you will be provided with a viewing window, where you will be able to change the image with several controls. Please familiarize yourself with all of the controls before attempting this cache.

1. You are allowed Only 5 Minutes. Please read the NOTE below.

2. Left-Click on "Start Control" panel in Lower Right to begin.

3. Horizontal TAB: Below the image frame, moves Left & Right.

4. Vertical TAB: Right of the image frame, moves Up & Down.

5. Vertical TAB: Far Right of the image frame, Zooms In & Out.

6. Camera ICON: This Button allows you to save your picture.

7. Face/Sun ICON: This Button allows you to change the Brightness.

NOTE:   When you reach the end of your 5 Minutes and you see a Flashing Green Clock, be prepared for Disconnection. Refreshing the page Resets the WebCam to it's Default position and you'll have to re-position it as before.

  III. What Your Friend Does:
1. Move the WebCam to the Far Right or Far Left.
(Use the "Pan South" or "Pan North" Preset to position the camera)

2. Adjust H-TAB and V-TAB to locate intersection. See Sample Images.
(Move H-TAB to Far Right or Far Left & Move V-TAB downward)

3. Adjust ZOOM/V-TAB for the best close-up view. See Sample Images.
(Move the ZOOM/V-TAB nearly all the way to the top)

4. Position your friend at one of the locations for the best picture.
(See the Sample Images for an example)

5. Hold CTRL or SHIFT key & Left-Click on the Camera Icon.
(Directly saving the picture from the screen may not work)

6. When a 2nd Window opens, Right-Click on picture and SAVE it.
(Functions tested with Windows 98. Use what's best for you)

  IV. What You Should Do:
1. Coordinate you actions with your friend by Cell-Phone or Radio before you arrive at the above designated coordinates, which is the intersection of 32nd Avenue SW and SW. Morgan Street(See SE - Sample Image). The alternate location is 34th Avenue SW and SW Graham Street(See NE - Sample Image).

2. Go to the above listed coordinates, where you will find the Diamond and Square shaped Yellow CURVE and 25 MPH Signson a power pole, as shown in the SE - Sample Image, and stand at the RED X.

3. When you and your friend are ready, hold up a Big "X" Cardboard Sign or your GPSr and/or Cellphone over your head! Otherwise, be creative and do something that is totally unique or ridiculous, like standing on your head, I dare you!

4. Make sure your friend captures your picture and saves it on their computer. This is the only acceptable proof that you were ever there!

5. After you have completed your assigned task, you might tie a Yellow Ribbon to the tree at the corner, in remembrance of our fellow soldiers fighting overseas.

NOTE:   If someone in the neighborhood or a passing car sees you, I wonder if they will ask themselves - What the heck is that idiot doing? If they ask and you have the time or the inclination, then spread the word and tell the Muggle(s) about the fun of Geocaching!

  V. Ferry & Car Challenged Friend:
Exit the terminal and proceed to 1st Avenue & Marion Street. At the Bus Shelter catch BUS #21 going Southbound to West Seattle. Get off the bus at or near the U-Haul business at 35th Avenue SW and SW Morgan Street. From there it's only about a 2 to 3 blocks to your destination.

NOTE:   During Weekdays, you may have to pay Full Fair each way. If you can, Get a Transfer before exiting the bus at your destination. During Weekends, you may buy an All Day Pass at a cost of $2.50.   Zone Fees may apply to all routes.

  VI. Rules & Restrictions:
You must post the picture, that your friend captured, on GC.COM as part of your claim. My Approval of your claim will be based on my belief that it's really you. If I Disapprove your claim, I will send advanced E-Mail to you explaining my reason(s) why.

1. No Picture, No Claim! - No Excuses or Exceptions!

2. No Gesticulations, Mooning or other Illegal Public exhibition!

3. This WebCam is available during Daylight Hours Only. Please make sure that it is working before you attempt this cache.

8. Please don't hog this WebCam link! Remember, others may want to use it for purposes other than Geocaching.
