This cache is long in the waiting. It is 50 caliber ammo can that was a group effort created at the 10/18/03 NYC and Metropolitan Area Geocachers Gathering in the Palisades.
This cache is located on the top of Shenandoah Mtn. On a clear day with a bit of imagination you could probably see NJ and Ct, I'm just guessing though. The cache is easiest accesible off of Long Hill Road.. it lives up to it's name, so be prepared. Your going to need low gear to get up and down this hill...better low gear in the car than in your legs. The northern approach closest to taconic parkway is a dirt road accesible most of the year in a good vehicle. The southern approach is mostly paved, till the top when it turns to dirt road. Parking area is at N41 30.014 W073 48.809. Take the white blazed trail to a great vista. It's a party area so be prepared to do some trashing out. You also get the bonus of 2 benchmarks up there with a bit of extra effort. Keep in mind the most direct route is not always the easiest... find the way of least resistance.
