På 1000-talet vandrade Sankt Sigfrid enligt folksägnen från Loverslund längs Hagbyån, förbi Arby och vidare den gamla åsvägen mot nordost, förbi Mortorp, med Växjö som mål. Hela tiden samlade han folk och kristnade många. Här i Källebäcksmåla i norra kanten av Mortorp på gränsen till Sankt Sigfrid församling finne en levande muntlig tradition att källan som bryter fram på åsens nordsluttning är densamma i vilken Sankt Sigfrid döpte en liten skara av folk.

There is a legend that, in the 11:th century, St Sigfried walked from Loverslund along Hagby river past Arby and further along the old ridge road, north-eastward past Mortorp with Växjö as final destination. He gathered people around him all the time and Christianized many of them. Here in Källebäcksmåla on the northern edge of Mortorp on the border of St Sigfrid parish, there is an oral tradition that the spring which emerges on the north slope of the ridge is the one where St Sigfrid baptized a small group of people.
