Geocache Description:

This is a black plastic film container hidden in Grimaldi Park.

Take a walk around the parks and gardens in the Finsbury and Pentonville boroughs of Islington, and locate a few caches on your journey. There are 4 parks that looked especially interesting, and I have placed a micro cache at each one of them. From Angel Station, the round trip would be approximately 2 miles.

The cache is located near the grave of Joseph Grimaldi (1779-1837), who was born in London as the son of an Italian actor. When he was less than two years old he was brought upon the stage at Drury Lane and at the age of three he began to appear at Sadlers Wells. He did not finally retire until 1828 and he died 9 years later. He set the standard for British clowns and was imitated worldwide for many years. When he died in 1837 he was so famous that he was called the Father of Clowns, and so influential that Charles Dickens wrote his biography. For additional information about Joseph Grimaldi, see the

Clown Ministry’s site and Nigel Ellacott’s site.

After locating the cache, you can also visit the gardens and park named after him. The grounds are open during daylight hours only and are heavily populated with local pigeons. There are signs posted in the park to "not feed the pigeons", so perhaps there are too many of them. During daylight hours, you may also find a small group of teenagers hanging around the park near the grave. Don't feed them either!

You are searching for a small plastic film container. Magnets are involved, as expected. The cache contains a log only, so bring your own pen or pencil. When you retrieve the cache, please note where it was so you can place it in the same location.
