Changed the location of the Cache. Was on a steep side hill, this
meant that if you were off by 1 meter, you could really be off by
more like 3. The cache is now located above the caves. Please
rehide better then you found it and make sure to place it on a
strong branch to avoid having it fall during the winter.

I'd heard tell of the Ice Caves in Midland from a number of people
who didn't know where they were. I asked a few local people and it
was pretty easy to find. Midland is located North West of Norton
New Brunswick. These Ice Caves are quite neat. The beginnings of a
gorge runs down a hill and at one point drops off and opens up to
quite a large basin. At the point of drop off, water trickles over
an over-hang and creates a wall of ice 40 feet wide and 20 to 25
feet high with an area behind it big enough to walk around. I'm
told this ice cave lasts until June. We took three toddlers under
3, however we had a dog sled and they rode in it. Walking is pretty
good on packed down snowmobile trails. Take the 124 west from
Norton toward Beleisle. At Sherwoods Funeral Home turn left toward
Upper Midland. Go straight through two 4-way intersections and park
400 meters past the second one. On your right is a road leading
straight up a feild along a fence (N45°38.809' W65°48.233'). Lots
of people seem to travel it. It's a 1.4 km hike straight up a
snowmobile trail, a bit of a workout but after that the going is
easy enough (and a great relief for the walk back). At the top of
the hill in a clearing that used to be an old piling yard
(N45°39.485' W65°48.773'), turn left on the snowmobile trail for
another 400 Metres. Look out for a tin sign on a tree on your right
indicating "Ice Caves" (N45°39.462' W65°49.097'). Turn off the
beaten trail and follow the yellowish-red ribbons to the caves (230
meters as the crow flies). The cache is hidden within 100 meters of
the caves.
