Geocache Description:

This is a tour of the beautiful western South Downs. At each of the points you should have a good view of either the scenery or an interesting building or both. In or after wet weather you WILL need wellies or walking boots (and possibly a pokey-stick!). You may meet some ducks on the way so you might like to take them some bread. Please note: this is not a circular walk. The final location is some miles from the start point so you'll need a car or possibly a pushbike.

The above co-ordinates are the starting point. To discover the final location you will need to answer a series of questions.

Location 1. N51 02.295 W001 09.142

a = the number of Ds on this object.

b = the number of Ks.

c = the number of Vs.

Location 2. N51 01.991 W001 09.447

Using the date the ‘Upright Downright Man’ died, d = the first digit of the day of his death.

e = the second digit of the month of his death.

Location 3. N51 01.870 W001 10.763

Gunner King’s service number = fghijk

Location 4. N51 01.932 W001 12.984

l = the number of solar panels on the tallest nearby mast.

Location 5. N51 00.038 W001 14.595

the number on this object = mnop

Location 6. N50 59.870 W001 14.817 Clue updated on 13/7/2018 to reflect the change in the number of plaques.

There are a number of legible circular plaques on an upright post at the side of the track

q = the number of plaques with blue arrows.

r = the number of plaques with blue arrows divided by the number of plaques with yellow arrows.

Location 7. N50 58.898 W001 13.871

s = the number of years which the councillor served the district.

Now you need to put together the following to discover the final location where you are searching for a medium sized ammo box:

N50 AB.CDE W001 FG.HIJ

where

A = s

B = q + i

C = a + b

D = p

E = n + o

F = e

G = d

H = c

I = r - l

J = g - k

If you intend to swap items, please remember: trade up, trade equal or trade nothing (trackables, of course, don't count as swaps).

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or emoticon logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
