Jacoba van Beieren Multi-cache

Deze cache kan men lopend, fietsend, skatend of met de auto doen. Vanaf het begincoördinaat is de afstand heen en terug 14 kilometer. Waarvan ongeveer 2 kilometer door het bos te voet moet worden afgelegd. Deze cache kan altijd gelopen worden ongeacht de vermelde openingstijden.
In het bos moet men wel het reglement in acht nemen (zie foto).
This cache can be done on foot, on bike, skating or by car. The total distance from the beginning co-ordinate back en forward is 14 kilometres, of which 2 kilometres are through the woods and must be done on foot. This cache can be done at any time, regardless of the openinghours mentioned.
However in the forest one should obide by the rules that are aplicable (see photograph).

Onze eerste cache is gezien zijn inhoud & ligging een echte bloemen cache geworden. Stop er ook iets in wat met bloemen te maken heeft. Graag iets kleins gezien het formaat van de cache.

In de nabijheid van het dorp Sassenheim liggen de ruïnes van het slot Teylingen, daterend uit de eerste helft van de 13e eeuw.
Dit slot was de hoofdzetel van de houtvesterij van het graafschap Holland.
Een deel van de duinstrook ten zuiden van de huidige Stationsweg in Lisse, ongeveer 280 morgen (= 238 ha) groot, was het enorme landgoed van Slot Teylingen.
Het werd het Keukenduin van Teylingen genoemd.
In 1641 wordt een groot woonhuis, de Keukenhof, op de rand van het Keukenduin gebouwd. Dat de Keukenhof een ruim huis was, blijkt wel uit het feit dat de toenmalige eigenaar “in de verpondinge” 8 gulden belasting moest betalen.

De opbrengst van bovengenoemde duinen was bestemd voor de huishouding op slot Teylingen.
Jacoba van Beieren, gravin van Holland, door haar neef Philips van Bourgondië benoemd tot ‘houtvesterinne’ van Holland, verbleef vaak op Teylingen.
Een deel van haar landgoed liet ze gebruiken als kruiden- en groentetuin. Elke dag verzamelde de gravin hier hoogstpersoonlijk de verse ingrediënten voor in de keuken.
Hieraan dankt het huidige Landgoed Keukenhof haar naam.

Nadat de graafschappen Holland, Zeeland en Henegouwen Jacoba waren ontnomen sleet zij haar laatste drie levensjaren op slot Teylingen.
Ze vulde deze met het bakken van potten, de zogenaamde Jacobakannetjes, waarvan er zeer veel in de nog bestaande slotgracht zijn teruggevonden.
Het verhaal gaat dat de nog jeugdige Jacoba, door haar neef Philips de Goede van haar bezittingen beroofd, stevig aan de drank was geraakt.
Als ze haar wijnkannetje leeg gedronken had gooide ze dat achter zich over haar hoofd in de gracht.

Een rijmpje uit de 17e eeuw op zo 'n "Jacoba-kannetje" luidt:
"Dit 's Vrouw Jacoba's kannetje, gelooft,
Die hier maar eens uyt dronck;
Smeet het dan over 't hooft,
In de vijver dat het sonck."

‘Ik heet Jacoba, uit grafelijk bloed geteeld
Regeerd ik landen, door mijn partijschap fel verdeeld
Ik stond geheel alleen, en mijns ooms wrede hand

Een stierf er vroeg en liet mij na in rouw
Tot redding van den laatsten voldeed ik aan Philips eis
En gaf hen mijnen rang en waardigheden prijs

In the vicinity of the village of Sassenheim lay the ruins op the Teylingen Castle, dating from the early 13th century.
This castle was the main managerial seat of the Woodmill Forestry of the count-ship of Holland.
Part of the dune strip south of the contemporary "Stationsweg" in Lisse , approximately 238 ha., used to be the estate of the Teylingen Castle.
It was known as the Keukenduin (Kitchen dune) of Teylingen. In 1641 a large living quarter was built on the edge of the Keukenduin, the Keukenhof.
Proof that the Keukenhof was extremely large is provided by the fact that the owner at that time had to pay 8 guilders tax as mentioned in old scriptures from the area.

De revenue from the above mentioned dunes was destined for the use of the household of Teylingen Castle.
Jacoba of Bavaria, Countess of Holland and nominated by her cousin Phillip of Burgundy as forestry women of Holland, used to reside often at Teylingen.
She let part of her estate be used as herb- and vegetable garden. Every day the Countess herself would gather the fresh ingredients that would be used in the kitchen.
This is still were the estate of Keukenhof gets its current name from.

After de count ships of Holland, Zeeland and Henegouwen were taken from Jacoba of Bavaria she spent the last three years of her life at the Castle of Teylingen.
She filled her days with pottery baking, the so called Jacoba goblet, of which many were found in the still present moat.
Story goes that the youthful Jacoba, robbed of her possessions by her cousin Philip of Burgundy, began to drink heavily.
When she had finished her pot of wine goblet she would toss it backwards over her head into the moat.

A rime from the 17th century to the Jacoba goblet sounds:
"This is Lady Bavaria's pot,
from which she would drink more than a lot
She would then toss it over her head into the moat
Were the pot didn't stay afloat
