Geocache Description:

Cache is located in downtown Opelousas.

This mico cache is located in a courtyard in the downtown Opelousas historial district. The courtyard has park benches and is nice and shady. The main attraction of the courtyard is the live oak known as the Jim Bowie Oak. The tree is near the home of the famous pioneer Jim Bowie. He is known for the Jim Bowie knife and he was also a hero in the Battle of the Alamo. Because of the history and age of this tree (300 years), the cache is NOT hidden on or near the tree. The mico cache is a camouflaged DVD case with a log book and pencil.
