Geocache Description:

On Langness between the Herring Tower and the Lighthouse. From Derbyhaven take road across Golf course to Public Car Park. Cache within 5 minutes walking.

Original was replaced and now that tub went missing in theSummer of 2010. Now replaced with a small cylinder 6 inches by 1 inch containing just a logbook and pencils in October 2010. Not much room for goodies. Hint changed. Please note that the cache is not in the sea like the Yahoo map shows!
As an extra interest there is a memorial stone to a shipwreck in a lovely hidden spot that is worth a visit at N54°03.691 W004°37.016. It took me 6 years to find it, accidently in June 2004 despite my many walks around here. I can find only the following information:-

Two Vessels - probably April 1st 1853 during a severe easterly gale , William and Henry and the Provider. William and Henry was a schooner bound Preston to Ardrossan, wrecked on Fort Island with loss of 1 crew. The Provider was also a schooner bound from Liverpool to Glasgow with a cargo of salt - the master and 3 crew were lost (1 being saved), wrecked on outside of Langness.
