Welcome to my first mystery cache. This one is not kid friendly due to the terrain. The Posted coordinates are for what used to be the first stage of the multi and not for the final cache.
You should find a medium sized tool box stuffed with good items. I have placed the cache in a garbage bag. I have tied a loose knot in the bag to prevent the cache finder from finding any unpleasant ‘critters’ inside. May I suggest each of you do the same as you find it. The difficulty rating applies mostly to how much grey matter you will need to solve the puzzle and not so much to locating the cache itself. But make no mistake the cache is well hidden.
This cache is located on the AT.
I am not as familiar with the area as some of the other close by cache owners are, so as far as parking directions go, I just copied BJ&SNURT101’s from Centennial Road Overlook cache.
Parking Directions.
There are two ways to get to the overlook. The longest for avid hikers (7 miles round-trip) is to park on Rte 40, hike north on the AT, pass both Annapolis and Black Rock, turn left down the blue water trail (Centennial Road) at Pogo Camp, and follow your GPS.
The shortest way to the Overlook is very similar to Indy-Md directions to Black Rock from the north. Get off I-70 at Exit 35, north toward Smithsburg on Rte 66, right onto Mt. Aetna road till it ends at ‘T’, right onto Chrystal Falls Drive, and left onto White Oak Road. Park at the end of White Oak. Follow the jeep trail to the left at the ‘Y’. At the 4-way junction, you can proceed straight or to the right. If you proceed straight, turn left at the ‘T’ and right at the first trail you come to. If you follow the blue blaze trail (Centennial Road) from the 4-way, hike about 550 meters and turn left bushwhacking directly up the hill. This is the frontal assault and the toughest. Either will get you there.
OK so here is what you are all after. In order to find the final cache location you will need the following coordinates:
N (9)-6 (6)-2.0(13)+1
W (11)+11 (6)-1.(30)-7
But to understand them you will have to solve the puzzle. You will need to find out what (kind of) numbers are in parenthesis. Brush up on your math skills. I can tell you right away they are not prime numbers (somebody already did that one).
I will be posting one hint per day as a note in the log below. These hints will apply to the puzzle coordinates. This will not be easy at first. But by clue 2 or 3 you should have some idea, clues 4 and 5 make it perfectly clear and clues 6 and 7 just plain give it away.
