Aloituskoordinaatit vievät sinut Suomen Joutsenen luo, joka on 96 m pitkä ja 12 m leveä fregatti. Suomen valtio osti tämän vuonna 2002 100 vuotta täyttäneen aluksen 1930-luvulla koululaivaksi.
Sotien aikana Joutsen toimi mm. torpedoveneiden emälaivana ja myöhemmin miinanraivajien tukikohtana. 1961 Joutsen aloitti Turussa merimiesammattikouluna, ja jäi eläkkeelle museolaivaksi 1988.
Lopulliset koordinaatit 60N26.ABC, 22E14.DEF saat, kun lähdet pikku promenadille jokivartta pitkin:
A) Vähennä Joutsenen keskimmäisessä mastossa olevien raakojen (vaakasuorat tangot) määrästä 3.
B) Lisää Joutsenen takimmaisessa mastossa olevien raakojen määrään 3.
Kävele sitten Aurajokivartta ylävirtaan, kunnes tulet toisen vanhan purjelaivan luo. Kyseessä on Sigyn, vuonna 1887 rakennettu maailman vanhin kolmimastoparkki.
Työvuotensa Sigyn vietti rahtiliikenteessä Itä- ja Pohjanmerellä, mutta kävipä se Thaimaassakin asti.
Sigyn pääsi eläkkeelle jäämisensä jälkeen rapistumaan pahasti, mutta viime vuosina sitä on korjattu runsaasti ja työt jatkuvat edelleen.
C) Kuinka monta kirjainta on Sigynin kotipaikan nimessä? Vähennä tästä luvusta 1.

The starting coordinates take you to Suomen Joutsen (Swan of Finland), which is a 96 m long and 12 m wide frigate. The Finnish state bought it in the 30's to become a schooling ship. The ship celebrated its 100th birthday in 2002.
During our wars, the Swan served for example as a support ship for torpedo boats and later as a base for sea mine sweepers.
In 1961 the Swan started in Turku as a vocational school for mariners, and retired as a museum ship in 1988.
The final coordinates 60N26.ABC, 22E14.DEF you'll get along a small promenade on the riverside.
A) Count the number of the yards (the horizontal rods) in the middle mast and substract from this 3.
B) Add 3 to the number of the yards in the rear mast.
Walk then the river Aura upstreams, until you reach another old sail ship. It's Sigyn, the oldest existing three masted barque in the world, built in 1887.
It served most its working years in cargo traffic in the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, but visited even Thailand too. After it retired, it got into a very bad shape but during the latest years extensive repairs to save it have been started.
C) How many letters are there in the name of Sigyn's home place? Substract 1 from this number.
D) Look around yourself. What are the next numbers in the sequence? Substract 83 from that reading.
If you wish, you can look at the museum ships from inside too in the summer time.
Walk further upstreams. In a while you'll arrive to Föri. Föri is the favourite of the Turku residents, a river ferry that travels every day on its route between Turku and Åbo. A lot of water has streamed in the river since the steam-powered Onkaföri started its traffic: Föri is already over 100 years old!
E) How many concrete stairs are there between the street and the Föri peer on the side of the river where you are standing now? Substract 2 from that number.
F) Take a small river cruise on Föri. How many adult life vests (pelastusliivejä aikuisille) more there are on board Föri than is the maximum passenger amount allowed? Add 6 to this number.
Föri will be docked in the autumn. In the year 2010 this takes place from Sep 20. Under this time Föri is replaced by m/s Pikkuföri. The docking takes about two weeks.
