Since Travel Bugs are all really stuck up and snobbish due to their elite status, they do not drive themselves, so they need a chauffeur to drive them to their next destination. The executive parking lot can be found at N 43° 42.584 W 079° 57.773. The Walking Fern Resort is approximately half way down the 1km trail (But GPS says it's only 400m from parking...straight line). Looks like the management will go to any expense to keep away the undesirables.
The first set of elite Travel Bug guests of the Walking Fern Resort are as follows:
Agent Skully - She wants to return to Oregon by December, 2003.
Identity Crisis Travel Bug - He is always travelling in disguise and is never the same bug twice.
Papa Bear - He misses Mama Bear a lot and is looking to get reunited with her.
And lastly there are a handful of other non-elite guests that have survived the raid of the old Walking Fern Hotel.
Also, the management strongly recommends hiking to the end of the trail, since you are already half way there...it is well worth it. Also feel free to come back often as in each season the area looks so different...hard to believe! It's like God gives it a makeover every few months!
The resort is a 2 gallon round white bucket. It is well hidden, but yet not covered at all...hmmm. Flashlight is strongly recommended and if you are standing in the right spot, you should be able to see part of it. WARNING: Be very careful near the resort site as there is a fairly large loose moss covered boulder here! Please return the resort in exactly the same place and orientation as you found it.
