Geocache Description:

This 5-section multicache is on demanding terrain at altitudes to 700 metres, and requires a hike of approximately nine miles. Weather conditions may make extracting the final cache dangerous in bad weather. Care in mountain terrain is vital. Finding the initial four artifacts is straightforward provided you decode the clues accurately, having first studied the "Related Web Page".

NOTE: IT IS ESSENTIAL TO VISIT THE RELATED WEB PAGE TO SOLVE THIS CACHE. On 6th July 1942. a Vickers Wellington, flying on a night navigation excercise from Wellesbourne airfield near Stratford upon Avon disappeared. Wreckage was subsequently discovered on a mountainside in the Brecon Beacons. Reports indicated it had either lost its way, or iced up before losing height and hitting the mountain. However, subsequent investigations raised other possibilities, particularly after persistent reports of flashing lights being seen on the night of the disappearance, moving fast in the sky heading over the Bristol Channel. As section head of the investigative branch of a most secret government department, you have been asked to lead a team to investigate the reception of hitherto unknown “alien signals” detected following the development of highly sensitive measuring equipment designed to search for “intelligent” radiations from space. Although the signals are now extremely weak, surprisingly some appear to emanate from the area of the Brecon Beacons, the strongest of which is located in the vicinity of the crash site. Your mission is to locate the source, follow your initiative and guide your highly trained team of experts into the mountains where you hope to discover further sources of the mysterious radiation. To assist you, you have been given highly classified information. A source of digital signals from the region of Proxima Centauri have just been decoded. Patterns resembling hieroglyphs form a sequence of numbers which you must have learnt to decode. Whatever you do, you must not open any artifacts except the final cache, but simply report to the cache owner any alien message you discover at the end of your investigation. If you find evidence of visitors from beyond our planet, you are on the verge of a great discovery. To start your quest, park your mobile investigative unit at the coordinates given in the heading for this cache, and proceed to the source of the strongest signal at N51.52.182 W003.21.812. You must study the outside of the first artifact in the hope that it will give you further information. Who knows where it may lead you? Ensure that you are properly equipped for this venture. The weather can quickly change in the mountains and what may appear to be very mild when you set out can turn very unpleasant within a short space of time. On no account follow direct lines indicated by your GPS without regard to the terrain. On discovering the main cache, report your findings and send the owner the text of any message you find there.
