Quarry Head's Enchanted Forest Traditional Geocache
Gryphon: The powers that be cleared the land around the cache of all its interesting features. The grapevines that created a tunnel are no longer there so the description of the cache is no longer accurate. I am archiving this cache to allow another cache to be placed in its stead. The cache box has been removed (although at one time a muggle "took" the first box which may be somewhere in the area).

This cache is located at Quarry Head in Wilton, CT. Take route 33 until you see mailbox number 760. Turn East at the Quarry Head sign and follow the driveway to the parking area. Please drive slowly past the houses.
This cache is actually located in the Harrison Smith Preserve, a 23 acre preserve adjacent to Quarry Head.
If you park by the house foundation (at the end of the Quarry Head driveway) you can look out over the ledge and see Long Island and Long Island Sound. Trail maps are available where the driveway opens into parking.
This is a great cache for kids. Start on the red trail and head towards the Sound.
Imagine if Dorothy were hiking through Connecticut instead of Oz. She might meet the Scarecrow as she passes over a stream by using the rock crossing. She might meet the Tinman as she goes through the Laurel Forest. She might see lions and tigers and bears (actually, I saw a coyote up close when I was placing this cache) as she passes through the arched passages created by the vines.
Cache includes reward for first finder, bandana, fish necklace, American flag bracelet, wooden flute, hacky sack, ball, and more.
