Gartnerkofel
Es gibt zwei Routen:
Route Nr. 1: Du solltest schon etwas Kondition mitbringen. (Dauer: Hin ca. 3h, Zurück ca. 1,5h)
Route Nr. 2: mit enormer Abkürzung dank Seilbahn - dafür kein Blick auf Murmeltiere und mehr Vorabrecherche erforderlich (Dauer: Hin ca. 1h, Zurück 45 min)
Bei beiden Routen ist Trittsicherheit erforderlich. Ein Verlassen der Wege ist weder hilfreich noch sinnvoll! Bergschuhe anziehen, Getränke nicht vergessen und Los geht´s.
Weg #1
1) Parkplatz bei N46 33.598 E13 16.535, aus Italien und Österreich gleich gut zu erreichen.
2) Von hier nur ein paar Meter zu N46 33.601 E13 16.584,
3) Jetzt heißt es: Reich mir die Hand, … (Bild 1)

4) Was verdanken wir Franz Xaver von Wulfen? (Bild 2)
a) Die Entdeckung der Wulfener Höhle, ein 2 km langes Tunnelsystem mit unterirdischem Gebirgsbach (nur im Sommer zugänglich). N46 34.970 E13 17.768
b) Der osterreichische Adlige war Baumeister des heutigen Nassfeldpasses von Tröpolach nach Pontebba anno 1728. N46 34.377 E13 17.648
c) Die Entdeckung der Wulfenia Carinthiaca, eine sehr seltene Pflanze die in ganz Europa nur am Gartnerkofel vorkommt. N46 34.077 E13 17.662
5) Unter der Seilbahn durch und das Todesjahr von „Siegfried B.“ herausfinden. Er starb hier beim Training zum Gartnerkofelrennen. (Bild 3)

Die gefundene Koordinate ist der Cache! (Steine bitte wieder reinlegen) Von der Tafel sind es noch ca. 900m bis zum Cache. Das Verlassen des Gipfelweges ist ab jetzt nicht mehr ratsam! Ich bin selbst öfters in der Gegend unterwegs und mit etwas Glück sieht man nicht nur Haflinger, Kühe und Bergschafe sondern auch Murmeltiere und Hochwild!
Vom Cache sind es nur noch ca. zweihundert Meter zum Gipfel.

Weg #2
Parkplatz bei N46 33.996 E13 16.622, dann Richtung N46 34.006 E13 17.923.
Von dort sind es „nur“ noch 650m zum Cache, die man aber nicht unterschätzen sollte.

- Baujahr der Seilbahn minus 1965 = A
- 9B20 Hermagor (Schreib mal wieder)
- Höhe Talstation: xSxx
- Höhe Bergstation + 400 = xTxx

There are two routes:
Route No 1: You should be in good shape (Length up ca. 3 h, down ca. 1.5 h).
Route No 1: Thanks to an enormous shortcut by the cable car much shorter – however no glance of marmots (Length up ca. 1 h, down ca. 45 min.).
For both ways some mountain-experience is necessary (but no ropes!). Do not leave the trails. Put on your suitable footwear and don’t forget beverages. Let’s go!

1) Parking at N46 33.598 E13 16.535, You get there equally from Italy and Austria.
2) From here it´s only a stone´s throw to N46 33.601 E13 16.584,

4) What do we owe to Franz Xaver von Wulfen? (picture 2)

b) The Austrian nobleman was the builder of the „Nassfeldpass“ from Troepolach to Pontebba in 1728. N46 34.377 E13 17.648
c) The discovery of wulfenia carinthiaca, an extremely rare flower that occurs in Europe only at the Gartnerkofel. N46 34.077 E13 17.662
5) Under the cable car and find out the death of „Siegfried B.“ He died during the training for the Gartnerkofelrace. (Picture 3)

The coordinate found there leads to the cache! From the memorial tablet it’s about 900m to the cache. Do not underestimate them! Leaving the summit trail is no longer advisable. I’ve been in this area several times since we have a summer residence there. With some luck one can not only see horses, cows and sheep but also marmots and big game!
From the cache it’s only 200m to the summit.
Way no. 2
Parking at N46 33.996 E13 16.622 then direct towards N46 34.006 E13 17.923.
From that point it’s „only“ about 650m to the cache, that one mustn’t underestimate.
