A short walk along an easy trail
This is a virtual cache on Bald Head Island for when you need a break from the ocean. The level of difficulty assumes that you have already found your way onto the island and that you have secured some form of transportation. Otherwise, add a couple to the difficulty for the ferry access and expect a 3 mile round-trip walk.
The coordinates take you to the start of several trails through the Maritime Forest Preserve. To log this cache, send us an email answering the following question:
If you hike a short way up the trail, you will find a huge tree: what type of tree is it?
We could not give the precise location of the tree due to the heavy tree cover.
Also, this tree has been alive for quite a while. Does anyone know approximately how old it is? We'd love to know.
