Geocache Description:

Cache is an ammo box. Should be easy to find, much less easy to get to.

The approach to the parking area (N 48 39.080, W 120 24.116) requires about 8 miles of driving on well maintained gravel forest roads. The season will run from mid June (or later) to mid October depending on snow conditions. Lightnin' Bill himself is usually on duty* from June through early October. Bill knows the location of the cache and will probably be watching you as you search. The hike iteslf is 2 miles each way with an elevation gain of 1200 feet. Carrying a lunch is nice, taking water is A MUST! The trail is obvious but steep in places (HA! LOTS of places). Continue about a quarter mile beyond the cache to visit the other Bill and see the best of the views.

May 2019, we learned the Lightnin' Bill will again be stationed at the lookout on Leecher Mountain this summer. There are two caches there (GC143K9) & (GC6V7N0). Possibly volunteer greeters will be at Goat Peak tower occasionally but it won't be the same without Bill.
